I was looking around youtube the other day when i found this:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyHgdDOUyHs

Take time to read the comments as well.

Now, being a citizen of the UK i am equally appalled by the views of those in the video calling for enemies of Islam to be killed and by those of the people that made the film and left the comments. Incidentally at the end of the video it claims that the creator was a reverend, a video like this made by a priest of all people!!!!!

The sentiment of the video and the comments worries me more than the problem with Islamic extremism frankly, and the pond life that made the comments clearly have 3 brain cells between them. But when i see two groups of people in my own homeland that want to both revert to a primeval state of intolerance and violence based on bigotry and ignorance, it makes me genuinely sad and worried.

I just wanted to vent these feelings somewhere where i thought that we might have and intelligent, frank discussion on the matter, and this is the only place i know for that in this crazy world.

    Jordan

Nothing changes does it, still the same old world with the same old problems. Once again I fear we are heading for trouble, one more upset in the history of mankind.

    Progress???

Buses in those days were not so badly vandalized, as they are now. Teenagers were better behaved , no one would dare use the F word in public.. TV was of a higher standard, and presenters weren’t Icons of the latest fashionable image. We were better off, and happier with quality TV programmes than the many channels one gets now. Yes technology was primitive, but are we any happier now, I think this technology has made our lives more stress full, far better, when all we had were phone boxes. Technology these days, has replaced social contact between people, and that has made us isolated. Much more fun to go around someones house, for a cup of Tea and some social interaction. It all seems so sterile in this high tech world. Perhaps this is why young people don’t care so much about how they behave, less social contact means less responsibility. Email has replaced conversation, whatever next.
Having said that, mobile phones are useful, and where would we be without them. Probably getting some exercise finding a phone box somewhere.:D

    OVER THE TOP..

Yesterday while out driving ,I went past an Electricity substation. There was a chain link perimeter fence with reels of barbed wire on the top, obviously to keep out the daft youngsters, that we have to put up with these days. But what caught my eye was that the fence had about 100 plus ” DANGER KEEP OUT ” signs over it. Now why on earth, would you need so many Danger signs like that. I came to the obvious conclusion that, common sense is dead, and Health and Safety is out of control. Gee whiz, this country really is going to the Cuckoo nest. If things are really getting that bad, soon there will be a need for armed guards protecting these places.:D 😀

    The ideal way of life.

School life was interesting back in the 60s, none of this human rights rubbish, or Political correctness. Mentally we were a tougher breed , if you were called names ( insults ) you just ignored it . We had the bullying problem though, fortunately the headmaster used the Cane on those that went to far. Physically we were quite fit, because we had plenty of exercise. Very few fat kids that I can remember, and Physical exercise at school helped I’m sure. Generally the school Teachers were good, some were quite hard on the discipline, which even then was needed to keep some kids under control. I think I am correct in saying that there were more male Teachers then, compared to these days. There were no mobile phones or computers, so kids were kids, and not pushed into being young adults as they are today. I think this is one of the saddest things about modern life today, children are growing up to quickly. We made our own entertainment in those days, playing with each other was good for our mental well being. The reason I am what I am today, is because of the strong parental influence my Mother and Father had on me. Sadly I can see these days the erosion of this ideal, which will do society no favors. Generally speaking, a lot of young criminal behaviour these days is a result of this lost ideal way of life.

    Council house!!!
    You were lucky……………….

I don’t know about lucky, hard up was probably the correct term for our family. I suppose the rent was fairly cheap in those days. My mate Marks family had their own house, and they were much better off financially than we were. But the large garden made up for all that, it was bigger than Marks . We always seemed to have some money to buy sweets, favorites were, Chocolate, Sherbet, Lollies, Ice cream, Bubble Gum and peanuts. The weather was much different then, more rain in the summer, and colder winters. 🙂

Once it’s gone it’s gone forever.

The great thing about living in the suburbs, is it’s not overcrowded, and there is countryside nearby. In the summer I can hear the early morning dawn chorus, a wonderful sound to experience. Destroy the green belt and all this will go, Noise and traffic congestion will increase, and the quiet nights I enjoy now, will be replaced by 24HR traffic. That’s the difference between London and the suburbs, and why I like living here. The M25 isn’t far from here, and that’s very busy, build on green belt land, and the M25 will become a bigger nightmare than it already is. I was listening to radio 2 during the week, and this chap called a phone in program and said, he thought it was a good idea to build on green belt land. Apparently he is a pilot and flies over the south east regularly. He said he was amazed how much land had not been built on, around towns. He thought it was time to do so, and was happy that planning regs protecting green belt land may be removed. I will let you decide, which of the above makes more sense to you.

Another problem with building on green belt land, is that heat from the sun will remain trapped in buildings and roads. So the suburbs will become like London, much warmer during the evenings. Green belt land such as Trees and fields don’t retain as much heat as buildings or concrete do. This trapped heat also has an effect on the weather, and may well create worse droughts, than we have at present. Making Towns larger, will mean there will be less water for everyone, so stand pipes will become mandatory. Anyhow with the countries population growing , with many people from abroad, I think green belt land will be built over, regardless of the consequences. So in the end everyone will suffer, due to short sighted thinking by the government. That is the time when us more intelligent individuals ,will move away from the mess.
