    The way forward…

if you want british troops on our streets here this means declaring martial law wich in this country is ill defined to say the least lets face it when did this government do anything right wich brings me to ask this question- WHAY ARE THEY STILL IN POWER?

    NEW LABOUR NEW CHAOS!

Wasn’t one of the TA jobs to guard our vital installations, in the event of a threat to national security. Like it or not there is now a threat to national security, and it will probably get a lot worse. So we need to build up the security, and deal with problems as and when necessary. Why are they still in power? probably because we don’t seem to be able to produce Politicians, that are good leaders anymore. The problems we face these days need 21st century solutions, plain clothes British Army units may be the way forward. This will free up the Police to concentrate on crime.
As we all know the security services are watching possible Terrorists, so lets get the Army to play their role in this also. Bring back our boys, to defend our Country, instead of wasting our resources.

well i maybe going to afganistan next year with my TA unit, all i can say is this to tony blair, STOP WASTING MONEY ON IMIGRUNTS! STOP WASTING MONEY ON POLICIES WE DONT WANT! GIVE US THE KIT TO FINISH THE JOB! so we can blow bin laden and his evil henchmen into the stone age, if the afgans arnt with us stay out of the way support your troops write to your mp complain about shortages complain about lack of cash they will answer eventualy

To wage a war on two fronts, I would have thought is rather expensive. Not forgetting other parts of the world, where we also have troops stationed. If only this money was spent on things, that would make Britain a better country to live in. It would be far better to put troops back in this country, to deal with any future terrorist threat here.

Problem is, H&S laws take things to the extreme. The law assumes people are stupid, and puts in rediculous measures of protection. In the workplace, this makes the job over complicated, even with the simplest of jobs. In my opinion, it is possible to safely carry out a job, without to much regulation. There is definately one place where H&S has helped though, and that is on building sites, which are dangerous places of work. But regarding the small tradesman, H&S has gone to far, reducing efficiency to get the job done fast. Lets have an H&S law that uses common sense, not the ‘sledgehammer to crack a Walnut approach’.

Problem is, that for every job that needs to be undertaken, a risk assessment and method statement are required. Also it’s now considered that ladders can only be used as a means of access. There was a time when one could work on Ladders quite safely, and get simple jobs done in no time at all. I havn’t a problem with H&S , it’s the over the top approach that everyone has to follow. It seems that if you question H&S practices, you’re considered an unsafe worker. Whereas the complete opposite is true. Lets have a common sense approach to H&S, so that it fits in with different situations, I know it wont happen though. Equally,if people don’t understand H&S, it’s because it’s to complicated, and needs to be made simpler. This is especially true of risk assessments, and method statements.

    Over protection..

One of the problems is people don’t understand H&S law and so just take the easy way out and pretend the reason they can’t do things is H&S regulation when in reality it is because nobody has bothered to train them properly on applying the regulations. Even the HSE is peeved and sent out a circular on reasonable risk assessment and slammed those hiding behind ignorance of the regulations.

    What a carry on.

Yeah, who could ever forget Kenneth Williams with his “Oooooo, Matron!” or “Infamy! Infamy! They’ve all got it in for me!” Not to mention the young Barbara Windsor being examined by Jim Dale.

That’s right, the carry on series was a milestone in cinema comedy. Never again will such a wonderful bunch of people come together, to make us laugh.
Sid James and Kenneth Williams are without doubt, two of the greatest for their time. As for Barbara Windsor and Jim Dale, 😀 😀 😀
Yes indeed, the sixties produced some wonderfull talent, which remains UNFORGETTABLE.

Just thought I would give you the latest news on global warming. It’s to late to prevent bad weather for the next 30 years, and who knows, it may last longer. Even if the worst polluters cut their emmisions soon, it wont make much difference. Never mind, perhaps a new industry will come from all this, in the form of damage limitation. Global warming will be good news for the following Trades.

    Builders.
    Decorators.
    Roofers.
    Council workers.
    The Fire Brigade.
    Satellite Engineers.
    Water Company Engineers.
    Plumbers.
    Glazing Installers.
    Boat builders.
    Electricians.
    etc,etc.
    Tree Surgions.

See, Capitalism always wins in disaster situations. Look on the bright side for a change. 🙂

    A really scary experience…

This happened to me a few years ago, when I awoke during the night. I became aware of a horrible growling sound coming from my mouth. Then I realised I seemed far away from my body, which really spooked me. It took quite a lot of effort to fight my way back, and oust whatever was in, where I should have been. Fortunately I succeeded , much to my relief. Whatever was in my body at the time, didn’t return thank goodness. This experience was very real to me, and I am sure it wasn’t what psychologists call sleep paralysis.
