Without wishing harm to a pilot who’s sent to do a job I wish Syria had knocked down a Israeli jet or two or had retaliated as a keep off the grass message that they cannot just do as they want I also have to say my grandfather saw the Jewish occupation of Palestine first hand and had no time for them

Nobody in the region able to realistically. Saudi Arabia maybe, but not while playing “friend” to the US

Maybe not today or tomorrow but one day someone will have ago and if the bombing was not as said then it will make Syria more determined

and the world can only hold down Iran for so long one day someone will start selling them arms 😮

I agree once again Israel has over stepped the mark and nothing will be done I really do think one day they will get some back then they will run shouting about it being against international law. What is it Harris said you sow the wind you reap the whirlwind you can not drop bombs every one and not expect some back

A little off topic but dose anyone know when the RAF E-3’s are due for retirement and what capability the 737 AEWaC has because if the UK has a need to replace E-3 in the next 10 years buying 737 for two roles may make P-8 a good long term option and the same could be said for a Airbus but they some way behind Boeing at this time. However all this means no jobs for the UK aircraft industry unless the aircraft are built in the US and fitted out in the UK

Yes cheap but these 146 are to provide in theatre transport in Afghanistan. The airframes are being put through the minimum changes to make them fit for service in theatre.

What they are not doing is installing ASW kit!

A Bae 146 based solution would be awful!

At £15.5 million for 2 airframes 146 is a cost affective solution to the transport problem in Afghan but no one here thinks for one minute that you can slap a MPA together for that and as for it being awful that is an option and no one really knows that. What we do know is Nimrod had some of best censors around and we are not talking about major airfarme works like new wings

Are the Canadians still thinking of getting an amphibious assault ship because if they are they might need some lynx wildcats and around 20 F-35’s

The RAF’s just got two BAe 146 to take some of the strain off the Hercs by carting smaller stuff around. Still a lot bigger than the C-295, though.

and at £15.5 million for two airframes a whole lot cheaper

If the French need to get more of there helicopters to Mali one possible way could be to send them down on Charles de Gaulle and maybe HMS Illustrious and fly them off into south west Mali

The Cranfeild aerospace range extension kit and Honeywell AS977 engines would give 146 close to 3000nm and 9 hrs endurance in basic form it has 1500nm and 4hrs endurance

Dude, seriously, why not use the Bombadier Global Express for a MPA platform?
I mean c’mon, y’all already have experience using ’em with ASTOR.

Dude it has no weapons carrying capability

One option could be the Bell Griffen as used on RAF Akrotiri but I think it will be merlin
