This is quite obscure wout;) Only thing was, that I remembered seeing it on barnstormers.com a couple of weeks back:D
This is the Composite TB
Oh sorry about that. I got my Messengers messed up:eek::D:D Ofcourse I meant to write AJOE, but that is easy to say after the event:D:D
AA,
I think the picture on the website is a generic one. The only Messenger I know of being under restoration/repairs in France is Peter Bishop´s Messenger G-AJWB. If the Qlassiqieaero example is something else, please let us know!! If it is something else, we might have a new survivour!
Now reading the IAC Technical Tip volume I-IV. Worth it´s weight in gold if you ask me!
Bruce,
You wouldn´t happen to have a parts manual for the Miles Gemini in your archive do you;):D
Looks like sometimes I´m right:rolleyes:
I thought it was a Garret from the start, but got thrown off by the Dowty bit. All makes sence now:D (almost)
The B24 does not appear on the link unless you go to the troble of going to the mainpage of the blog.
So, can we say a Garret TPE gearbox, produced under licence by Dowty in the UK for use on (presumably) a Skyvan???
Or is it something else entirely?
I had a chuckle at the sign on the former rear gunners compartment!
So I was not the only one to do that:D
Seriously good video. Thanks for posting Pete.
I’m not a Turboprop expert but I’d make a wide guess at Skyvan or Jetstream?
Anon.
Both of which are powered by the Garret TPE (;) ), so we seem to have some sort of an agreement. Thing is, if this thing is actually made by Dowty, I think it would not be on a Garret. My Dart comment was based solely on the fact that this is in the UK, and Darts have been around for a long time so something like this should not be too difficult to obtain.
Now that is interesting Lindy,
What kind of glider was inside the box? Something old, or one of those dreadful plastic thingies?
It looks very similar to the gearbox hanging on a Garret TPE turbine. Since it is supposedly made by Dowty, I think we can scrap that idea.
I think we can be certain that this is from a turbine. I´d say it is from a RR Dart.
Waiting to be shot down in flames!
Just thinking out loud, but wouldn´t that device be too close to the prop of #3 to be useful for window dropping? It might spoil your day to have window stips wrapped around your prop.
Like I said, just thinking out loud. It might very well be a window port!
Thanks willip, This is a photo that was glued inside the aircraft maintainance log when I got her. Nice to know it is taken at Doncaster.
Anything is possible with the right team, facilities, and funding.
