I am!
If it follows the same format as last year, there should be plenty to see on the ground (military vehicles, stalls etc) in addition to the two museum buildings. Flying-wise, last year saw two ‘Kent Spitfire’ displays from Dan Griffith, and an appearance by the locally based TG Aviation Stearman. The Spitfire displays were absolutely fantastic – there is excellent footage on YouTube of Dan’s 2008/9 displays, well worth checking out if you have a few minutes. He flies a very different display profile to any other warbird pilot I’ve seen which keeps the aircraft solidly in front, and close, to the crowd.
The Typhoon will also be operating from Manston for the Southend airshow, though the arrivals/departures are best viewed from the roadside or the laybys under the approach.
From memory, this year we have the Spitfire, Bf-108, Stearman and Yak 55 to look forward to…possibly one other aircraft, I can’t remember!
*cries*
Gorgeous… sounds like you had quite the time over there. :D:cool:
When do we get to see more?
Absolutely gorgeous! π
Any idea whether this is a “temporary” scheme, or whether it will remain like this indefinitely (i.e. beyond 2010)?
Niiiice. π
Isn’t it just the Sea Fury and Spitfire V (‘120) that have been removed? Everything else appears to be there (at a glance – and we’ve gained the Se5a), and we’ve got some interesting/unusual combinations, too.
I certainly can’t complain – four Hurricanes will do me quite nicely! π
Last shot, guy directly in front of the Tiger Moth in jeans and a cream sweater with a backpack – that’s me. I’m certainly getting around in people’s photos!:D
Lovely set, really like the Aeronca (I think – G-ABNT) and the Superace. Top notch!
Spectacular poster. Can we have something similar for Legends? π
I was really looking forward to doing La FertΓ© for the first time – had accommodation and annual leave booked, ready to drive down early on Friday to watch the arrivals, but passport problems (some my own fault, some I’m blaming the Home Office for) have ruined said plans for 2010.
I had pleasure flights in the Ju-52 and the co-pilot’s seat of the An-2 booked, too, which makes it even more gutting.
Still, there’s always Wissant. π
I do try. π
Thanks for the info. Shame about the October show, but hey-ho…
No machines from OFMC?? With a week away, maybe they will be added later.
A Duxford show would’nt be the same without 434 & FF, they must be one of the biggest crowd pullers for the IWM as over the last 5 years the museum have booked them at every show almost.
‘Frankie’ is still undergoing maintenance, not sure about MH434’s current state, though she was due to have a test flight last week. Not sure if that materialised.
I assume that’d be ‘Drag ’em Oot’ heading to the Abindgon airshow, which takes place tomorrow. π
No e-mail – haven’t renewed my membership yet. My brother is a member, though I doubt he can remember his log-in details.
The post in question is at the bottom of this thread, for those wondering – http://forum.planetalk.net/viewtopic.php?t=9333&sid=3b396688d69bd173fb41946d9b021731
I assumed that to mean that the Harvard was having engine runs ready for flying next week.
I may be wrong. I often am!
Bizarre, still can’t see it! This computer is ‘avin’ a larf.
There was a post on another forum (PT) from one of the engineers suggesting that something may be happening next week…
I don’t see any changes, even after F5’ing?
Propeller was feathered and couldn’t have been that much of a problem as it did a circuit of the airfield first before landing.
Thread drift. The HAC Nimrod arrived on the back of a lorry today.:D
Brian
Excellent! Hopefully she’s back where she belongs before long. π
Now that you mention it, I’ve been tee-total since 1 January 2010. π
