a little bit off subject here, but i have heard that the Indian Navy is buying or has already purchased Tu-22m Backfires from Russia.. is this true.. if so how many are they getting..
Of the 231 Forgers built (Yak-38, Yak-38U & yak-38M) and during a 15 year service life, 36 of the Yak-38 series were lost in accidents – according to Yakovlev-OKB records.
This represents 15.6% of the total.

that is not half as bad as i expected. i would think the harrier would not be much better. has all the Kiev class “carriers” been decomissend as well ??????.
that is one place i would love to walk round for a hour or two… i would not want to leave… 🙂
i have always been interested in the little Yak-38. a strange looking beast. with that fat fuselage and tiny wings, they almost look comical.. did the Forger ever enter front line service and when was the last retired. i know they did not have a happy life with the Soviet navy. i think it was something to do with there tendencey to fall out of the sky for no apparent reason. 😀 😀
surley if the right money was offered, and the right strings pulled, these beautiful old classics can be saved, before the scrap man lights his torch. 😉
you can keep all stealth, flying wing, RPV crap…… give me a V-Bomber eny day..
i sometimes think i was born 20 or 30 years too late as well… it just seems there was far more “and better” types or aircraft around the world then. i cant even imagine what it was like at a major airshow 30 years ago.. it must have been amazing…. 😉
there is nothing wrong with trains…… unless you want to travel on one.. 😀 😀 😀 …
i loved the footage of Valiants. the ending makes me very sad… a end of a era… 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁
the referees are just as bad, one player only has to breath on another and the ref blows for a free kick. saying that its good to see players being booked “and sent off” for diveing. i think Brazil was very lucky today.. ok they won 3-0 but they where outplayed at times by Ghana… and the second goal was off-side…..

the RAF will never be the same again. i suppose this day had to come, nothing lasts forever.. i dont think we should be sad over this. this thread should be a celebration of over 50 years of sterling service.. so lads and lasses…. raise your glass and salute the remarkable English Electric Canberra….. i hope they will never be forgotten.. 🙂
