You know, this can be said of a lot more aircraft than just the F7U. But this would be a good start. Adjusting the cockpit area alone would make a world of difference!

Well, even if exported they should really be known by their intended countries’ suffices (be it informal or not). Don’t we regard the Israeli F-16s as -16Is? RoNethAF F-16s -16Ns? And as stated above, don’t they have to be E/Fs in the USAF inventory before they can be so in other countries AFs (ala the -15CJs and -15DJs for Japan)?

Yeah, i think Boeing has screwed their designations of late. But also they’re trying to ingratiate themselves into the public eye better has well. Why else would the DoD/USAF have screwed their own well established designation system for the JSF? I mean, according to everything that is right, we know that plane should be the F-24/25 when it enters service (or at least the F/A-24/25). But instead its going to be the F-35. WHY? Where has the USAF entered 13 fighters into service between the Raptor and the JSF? If the ‘X’ designation is for permanent ‘X’ planes, why was JSF given the prefix anyway? Why weren’t they YF/A-24s (like the YF-22s/YF-23s)?

Where are they going? Bankrupt most likely. If you ask me they screwed themselves a LONG time ago when they should’ve made the 57 and 67 FBW and 2-crewed from the outset. I mean, now they’re looking to bring out yet another dual under-wing engined medium airliner (like there isn’t enough of those already?) and are banking on it. Well, it had better be cheap as all get out, because that’s the only way it’ll sell. I mean, come on!; how many of the same type of plane can you produce and reproduce? I can understand indigenous designs for home countries but geez…

And now they’re trying to scramble and ensure their military contracts are up to snuff? These are just the actions of a desperate body. Lockheed is already going to be the military aircraft house for the future, there isn’t room for anymore (as proven by the consolidations of the 90s and the US government unfortunately). Why, i don’t know. Stupid in my opinion to combine all these aircraft manufacturers. But then, i like my planes. I guess losing first the ATB, then the ATF, and even then the C-X wasn’t enough to convince an already blind company that they just don’t have what it takes anymore.
