RE: bmibaby CWL routes announced
I Know this isn’t really associated with bmibaby at Cardiff but easyJet have also announced new routes today. As of September 4th, easyJet will operate daily services to Madrid and Alicante. Alicante is a new destination for easyJet. This brings the number of easyJet destinations at Gatwick to 11 !!!
RE: Sweets on take-off – a thing of the past?
I’ve flown with Air Europa and Spanair twice within the last year and they have always provided sweets for landing – nothing for take off though. Makes a change as I don’t seem to get them from other airlines anymore. I would think that charter airlines don’t give out sweets anymore because they sell sweets and chocolates from the bar at rip off prices e.g Dairy Milk Bar for 90p on Monarch Airlines!
RE: Things to do at Newark International
I’ve flown with Continental Airlines to Newark and they are the best airline in the world – they always give you cups of water and orange juice, international aircraft have ptv’s, food is great (choc chip cookies during films!) and they also have a frequent bar service! Cabin Crew are also very friendly.
Newark has a few shops and a lot of ice cream parlours and bars. Great vieews of NYC.
Baggage will get their tags at the airport in the U.K but at Newark you have to collect your bag and take it to the transfer check in where you put your bag on the belt. Then its off to the gate.
Hope this information is useful!!!!
RE: Sheffield Disaster!!!!
I think that Sheffield can only survive if the runway is extended so charter airlines can use the airport – charter flights are always busy and I would have thought that a lot of people living in Sheffield and local other areas will have gone abroad frequently. Also small carriers like Eastern Airways with their 18 seat aircraft could probably make profitable services to London, Belfast etc. Also Sheffield definately need KMLuk to re-start their Amsterdam service otherwise the airport would definatley close as it almost closed at one point last year!!!
RE: South African Airways
It seems a bit stupid and a waste of money that SAA are replacing their 737-800’s with Airbus A320’S and A319’s as the 737-800’s were supposed to be a replacement for SAA’s previous Airbus A320’s.

RE: How many have gone?
Sorry everyone – I made a mistake with my last message. All of the airlines I wrote down were not all bankrupt airlines – some of them are just names which have dissapeared
e.g Crossair and Swissair = Swiss Air Lines
Air Liberte and AOM = AirLib
Virgin Sun = First Choice took over Virgin Holidays but not the airline
Balair CTA = Belair
Impulse = Qantas Link
T.W.A and T.W.E = Taken over by American Airlines
Sorry for the inaccurate information
