πŸ™‚ Good if not brilliant cgi is doable https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1RV4O9vUqU

How old is that clip? I’ve seen it before and it just goes to show what can be done, we will get to a stage where you will not be able to tell CGI from reality I’m sure of it. πŸ™‚

So Bruggen do you think it is cheaper to pay VoiceOver artists and CGI artists to recreate long since dead actors performances than pay a new actor? Trust me it is not cheaper. Also do you think it is free to recreate an actors performance. A fee would be paid to the estate of the late actor. A bonkers idea of the future.

And why do you need to colourise the film? It’s been enjoyed for years. People don’t mind the lack of colour.

Plus you do realise that Roger Rabbit isn’t meant to look convincing don’t you? Rabbits don’t actually talk or wear clothes πŸ˜‰

Who said any thing about recreating a performance, I said you will be able to recreate any actor and have him do what you want in any new film you choose to. People don’t mind the lack colour do they not, so the remake will be B/W will it, what a bonkers idea.

Those of you on this forum, and many others for that matter that keep criticising those who have done some extra research and bring another opinion to the table need to engage your brains and think a little rather that keep talking about β€œrevisionist BS” The bombs were as much of a shock to Russia as to Japan and the rest of humanity. Remember they didn’t even know what would happen when these bombs went off.

I suggest you do a bit more research and read about Klaus Fuchs, and a good few other American, and British spy’s that were working on the bomb at Los Alamos and sending every thing they could about the Manhatten project back to Russia, who did not know what would happen when these Bombs went off? well the Americans did on the 16 July 1945, so you can bet your house that the Soviets did not long after.

Those dreadful special effects in the original Dambusters won an Academy award for best Visual effects, I think that todays best CGI will seem rubbish in ten, twenty years time when it will be possible to recreate any actor from the past and interact with actors on screen without it looking like “Who Killed Roger Rabbit” the only thing will be how they pay the voiceover guys, as for the remake I hope they just re-master it in Colour and get rid of the flying scenes and CGI new ones.

    Most of them I think.

    Queen Elizabeth
    Warspite
    Valiant
    Malaya
    Royal Sovereign
    Ramilles
    Revenge
    Resolution
    KGV
    Duke of York
    Anson
    Howe
    Nelson
    Rodney
    Renown

    Moggy

Apart from the Duke of York’s engagement with Scharnhorst the others don’t seem to crop up very much, it always seems to be the ones that were sunk that you hear of the most, the size of that list surprises me. πŸ™‚

What a fantastic end to a very tragic story. Even though Bismark could easily have “Stood off” well out of the range of the guns of HMS Prince Of Wales, and HMS Hood. both of HMSs ships went in to engage Bismark, knowing they were on a hiding to nothing.and out gunned. It will be nice to see the ships bells finally together for all to see. I don’t honestly think that anyone would consider the taking of the bell as theft from a War Grave in this instance. I think Paul Allen is owed a debt of gratitude, he may well be worth zillions, but it must have cost him a mint in the recovery.

Why do you say both RN ships were out gunned, Hood had 15in guns, prince of wales had 14in guns, Bismark 15in, so to my mind it was Bismark that should have been out gunned, any way if the bell is to be part of some memorial then I think that’s ok.
I do agree what you say about the debt we owe him for recovering it πŸ™‚

The reason Japan surrendered when they did might just have been down to the simple fact that they did not know how many Atomic Bombs the Americans had, one dropped on the 6th, one on the 9th maybe they were expecting one every three days, which would not be a nice thing to put your population through, just a thought!

Bruggen. OUR Pilots wouldn’t have made that mistake I.M.H.O.. Way back on G.D. I posted an experience I had at RAF Holbeach Bombing Range, when the A10s were on the range, take a read if you can find it. It makes interesting reading.:). BTW What was the outcome of this encounter, Blue on Blue?.

So the RAF pilots that bombed a small school mistaking it for a bloody great building (shell house) in broad daylight, like the Americans did not have a valid excuse in your eyes
