As for your comments Bruggen, I know you’ve explained before what your father saw, and I’m quite sure his recollections are accurate. But the idea that this was a manifestation of a Government plot is indeed nonsense, which people have been peddling for decades. It has to be, otherwise how do you explain Jenkins’ and Healey’s agreement to keep two aircraft flying? That’s a complete reversal of the “destroy everything” myth..
There’s a bl**dy big difference between letting the manufacturer keep two
aircraft flying, and letting the RAF have it in squadron service, especially
if the current pm and some of his ministers are in the pocket of a foreign
power. BTW please explain how you know that it’s rubbish, who told you,
names please, the fact is you don’t know any more than the rest of us, it’s just your opinion, even somebody with limited intelligence would think it a strange that a PM who’s under the suspicion of the secret service cancels
the countrys top military project at the drop of a hat.:D

The point I was getting-at though is that we’ve had over 40 years of people claiming that the Government had some dark plan to destroy every trace of TSR2 and sent mysterious men to the factories to ensure that everything was eradicated. It’s rubbish. The saga of the above programme proves this point clearly.
No it’s not rubbish, my father worked on TSR2 making beams, and was at work the day the men from the ministry came and stood by while he and his
workmates used cutting tools to destroy all the finished parts and then removed all the jigs and drawings, now he told me this the day it happened,
I was in my teens at the time so he wasn’t talking to a two year old. Now if
that is normal procedure then it’s was the first time he had come across it.
He spent 15 years in the RAF as a senior tech both wartime and peacetime,
he left with exemplary conduct stamped on his card he wasn’t one that
made things up. Now if you only believe what YOU want to believe because it suits your political bent ( staunch labour supporter ) or some other reason that a flaw on your part and you need to correct it before you go about
dismissing what people who BTW had first hand knowledge of events.

Like I always said, You like what you’ve got until you see what your mates got, then you want a piece of that as well, and that goes for men and women:diablo:

I think he was making a more general observation, in that the RAF, when displaying their aircraft, spend most of the display showing us the bottom. True, there are rare glimpses of a top view, but you only get one, maybe two, chances if you’re lucky.

Of course, now we’ll be redirected to hundreds of photos of BBMF topsides. Sods law.

Edit: I should read the whole thread before making comments. 😀 😀

Thanks Rob, thats exactly what I meant, but it was said with tongue in cheek:D I have the utmost respect for all the members of the Flight and the
work they do.
Phil.

What a bizarre post Bruggen, the BBMF Lanc normally does a flypast at a slight bank to show off the top side.

Nothing bizarre about it, the only topside shots I’ve ever managed to get where from outside the the airshow. my son was on the flight for a few years
and even he mentioned the fact that the paying public only got to see the underside, perhaps my first post was missing a few of these:D:D:D.
Anyway good luck the brothers in get her back in the air. It would be great to see a couple of Lancs a few spits, and hurricanes in formation.:D

Why not ask bbmf for the one on thier lanc as nobody gets to see the topside
at air displays, I don’t think people would notice it missing.
