Good points
i think his huge email he sent when i gained a point of contact threw me, he basically thought the aircraft was nothing special 😮 and nothing new was to gain so thought it should stay where it was.
Im going down another avenue so he can maybe understand my perspective to dig it up, but points of “you only get one go and needs to be done properly” i must agree with him.
From my understanding of the PMA 1986 as amended, this does not include requiring any county archeologist, i think this is what known as greasing the wheels in goverment departments as its only in the “Guidance Notes for recovery groups”. All the licencee has to do with regards to the act is to complete a returns form for the MOD and any other requests.
I have delt with sereral who are very accomerdating, however there is always one who thinks he running the show. My advise If you are up against it with regards to the project design/reports contact the MOD and ask your position with the licence you may find a happy outcome
There appears to have been a number of fakes floating about supposidly of the peregrine engine, i seen a complete set back last year at beaulieu car auto jumble so you are not the only one knocking out these labels.
Er yep yer right…:o I am not sure about the H-Block Sabre engine one bit,
but I was told they were Napier engine Valves ???.. What other engines did Napier Make during the War ????
Well if they are from a napier sabre engine they are rare, one thought this was a sleeve valve engine!!
If it was the stall i seen he was trying to sell the punters a Rolls royce merlin starter motor that was hardly big enough to fit a ford model T, mind you there is always one dull enough to pick it up going on what the label says
The best stall there was the burger van, certainly the field to be selling in during the recession:D
Certainly genuine, then.
Well if you could give the window a coat of white paint for me andy i certainly would be interested in the purchase, dont through anything away as one day it may become collectable:D
Out of interest, on the fake dambuster lanc relics that were offered for sale on ebay back some time ago a post was made which match these dates of the Do17 items offered for sale by wreckfinder1944, quick look on ebay and this seller does not seem active anylonger
Maybe these are the offending items, anyone got them in their watch list??
Is it just me being a little slow or do the do17p relics in this tread have anything to do with it??

Certainly would be interested, could you tell me if it come complete with the inspection window:rolleyes:
Only about 18% of it, apparently….! :diablo:
well thats good news as ebay do not allow whole german insigna to be sold on ebay:rolleyes:
About 7degrees…..or….37×1200+xy-76.99 + 18.88 x the product of x + y divided by 3.79r 😮
so in plane terms! would you fit a swastica on it:diablo:
OMG, looks obviously dodgy in those pics, buyer beware.
Still, VERY poor form
Its not often a rivit counter comes to mind but suprising what a little Tcut brings out in the paint work:D Well done Tangmere not only can you now be called an Amiture aviation archeoligest but a sherlock holmes in the same week, they have given medals away for less:diablo:
By any chance would this be the same seller who had a very special dambuster lancaster relic with herc engines fitted?????
Parts of that blenheim from pawlett hams are on display at kemble i believe, they were gifted one of the engines and 2 prop hubs complete with the blades attached.
One of the local groups atleast are tinkering with a blenheim as they collected all the brackets, undercarrage etc to help on the project, i was shown the location of this blenheim in the severn ages ago but to be honist i would sooner put the effort looking for the westland whirlwind just down river. Perhaps if they are keen on funding a local recovery project i could help out with a sidescan sonar and towed proton magnetometer, but you will need to hire a hovercraft as i want to keep me picknic hamper dry!
It’s not ‘a political matter’ It’s a matter of honouring the dead, if you’re too far up yourself to see how arrogant your comments make you look then there is little hope 😡
Talking of political matters, it does seem that there is a double standard where by it appears ok for licences to be issued to recover gold from sunken war ships by treasure hunters containing missing crew. Whats the diffrence even if they are 18th century battle ships, apart from the goverment getting a cut of the proceeds?.
I think i may have a solution here just to please the professionals, let the amitures do the digging and we will provide a nice deck chair for them to watch the digs with their crayons and red and white marker sticks.
JOBS A GOOD UN!:diablo:
I dont think you boys are going to ageee, however from where ime standing the diffrence between a professional archaeologist and a amature aviation archaeologist is getting paid!! If i was on a hourly rate, too sure i could hang the job out to dig a hole at someone elses expence:diablo:
look at the time team, they hand about for 2 days with a trowel and on the third when their producer wants completion of the programme, out comes the hymac. True professionals at work
In the height of the recession i would of offered 8 pounds as i think a tenner was a little steep!!
