Vendor is asking $750,000CAN (Canadian Dollars)
At the current rate of exchange that equates to £472,035.43
And to get it flying would easily cost as much again. So, I believe any serious interested party would need £1 million plus in loose change down the back of their sofa…
I would say that £1.5 mill would just about get it in the air. Engine overhaul and prop & hub would be about 350K !

Good to see you on the mend Steve, you had folks worried.
Hey Tony i’m not the Steve you are thinking of. He is on the mend in hostpital after a fairly serious op. I do how ever work for Steve at AA.
Steve.
Seems like a lot for one of the less desirable models, not that I’m doubting you 🙂 (I personally like the low back models, but there’s no doubting that they don’t have the same mass appeal as the highback versions)
Think I’ll wait until Burma opens for business 😀
They are low back XIV’s so even less desirable !!
Steve
Are the last two amunition track or something similar ?
Steve
I recall looking at Peter Monk’s Spitfire resotrations website, but can’t seem to find it at the moment. Is anyone able to direct me to it?
You could look at Biggin Hill heritage Hangar web site for info .
Steve
Would be nice to see it painted in the colours of pilot that is still with us, no matter how big or small his contribution was. We won’t be able to see the smile of a WW2 pilot on seeing a restored Hurricane (or Spitfire) in his colours for many more years.
Paint scheme up to the owner ! and you really wouldn’t want too argue with them !
Steve
and Peter Monk owns this one as well?
No it is a customer’s aircraft !
Steve
Hi all, yes Steve a bit poorly at the mo ! Had an op yesterday & is recovering in hostpital. Will post again when more is known. Here’s to a speedy recovery
.
Steve.
Oldgit, they are supposed to be curved. I thought that you had them formed up thats why i asked about breakpress !
Steve
Hi oldgit, do you have some one local to you with a breakpress to fold them up ?
Steve
The photo in question shows the side channel of frame 9 where it joins the lower fwd longerons, the channel being constructed of 2 zed members & a closing plate with machined fittings at base where it joins longeron.
Steve
Thanks MKV & Daz, that confirms what I thought after I’d read Morgan & shacklady. Seems wreckage that I’d seen a photo of came from a seafire also based in Malta. It seems that about 166 MKvb’s were converted to seafires so could this be one of those ! How were they converted ? what was added ?
Cheers Steve.
Can’t please everyone !!
Steve
Hi Mark, they probably are, but you never know someone else maybe manufacturing them.
Steve.
Hi Matthias, great stuff as always! Do you have a local supplier for the 109 fuselage skins/ frames or are they from the UK ?
Steve.
