It sure looks like it’s first flight. I don’t recognise it so you might have been the first one to capture the 3rd Airworthy Mk1 spitfire flying in the world.:)
Well done and thanks.
He wasnt the first !!!!
Steve
Thanks.
What a character.
“Would I exchange Christmas cards?”
*Most people then thinks he’s gonna say a dramatic “no way”.
And then says;
“Propably I would”.
Hi I saw the program & cant believe that the sky raider pilot has not been in touch !!
Steve
Hi NI-SPITFIRE, i’m sure you’ve read all the post on here about selling this seat, and i should think that anyone in the market for such item knows about it now. I personally wouldn’t put it on ebay, I’d rather wait for the phone to ring because I’m sure you will get some good offers. Would be a shame for it to go back in the barn. Can think of some up coming projects that would need a seat if it can be made airworthy.
Steve.
I agree, and you still are not safe, get someone complain about n item and they refund them and you lose your goods too… Legalised robbery.
Had that happen to me, sent item back that i had bought because it was not what it perported to be . No money sent back ! they said item never arrived back !! Be very carefull !!
Steve.
Having commissioned a seat in Glass/Carbon, it cost an awful lot less than that, and included moulds!
Bruce
Hi Bruce, how do you get over design authority when making them from carbon ? Or are they strictly static one’s. I did notice that on a visit to HFL a couple of years ago that there was a carbon one on a bench.
Steve.
Think it still has the wing stiffners on it too Tony, they were a mod too I believe?
Mackerel, even though not used in combat after that time you would want everything flying in your airspace fitted with IFF and flares ?
Yes you could be right Tony, but why change to a flare that shoots up when the early downward ejecting one would do ? I suppose its that the later type had 6 cartridges & early type only had 1 in the tube. Answered my own question !!
Steve
Surely they would have been added during its life as updates..?
Maybe Tony but combat service finished june 21 1940 so would they have bothered with that ?
Steve.
spitfire K9942
HI all, does any one know what fuselage was used to reconstruct K9942 on show at cosford. Records show that it was built in 1939 but there are insulators in side of fuse for IFF radio aerial & there is the flare tube on stbd upper surface at Fr16 that were not fitted in 1939 !! Also seems to be flush riveted in places that should be SP85 rivets or equivelent.
Steve.
Wee tube?
congratulations Eddie. It exits the fuselage between Fr11 & Fr12 in the floor.
Steve
er…..pilot!
Close !! the pilot would have an input !!
Steve
You’ve been looking at my stash of drawings again, Mackerel.
Will try and find an/the answer in the New Year. 🙂
I’ll give you a clue Dick, it’s fitted to the pilots seat !! Merry Christmas & see you in the new year.
Steve
I am advised N3200 fuselage was scheduled to transfer from Airframe Assemblies IOW to Duxford over 14/15 December.
Looking good for a re-run of the wonderful P9374 project.
All in the boo…
Mark
You are quite right Mark 12 she left AA on 14th Dec, i’m surprised some of the eagled eyed on here have not posted a photo.
Steve.
What an irritating programme; I only watched parts of it because I kept spotting bits of aircraft! 😀
I wasn’t sure if it was a Spitfire wing but I’m sure there was a Jet Provost, Westland Wasp, lots of jet engines, ejector-seats, aircraft seats and the casing of a large two-row radial engine in there.
It seemed to be a massive store of museum type stuff.
Definately spit wing but not sure what mark ! Awful program but though it may be intresting with aircraft related bits laying around !
Steve.
Nice clip.
Two genuine article Bf-109Es flying (both in the States). Three Buchon-based Bf-109Gs in Germany.
The one in this clip belongs to Paul Allen.
This one is werk no 1342 i believe. Restored by Airframe Assemblies & put together to flight by well known 109 restorer in Essex.
