Does anyone know where I can get this book ?

    Regards Brian

I expect he means the book “Spitfire-The history” by Morgan & Shacklady. You could probably get it through Amazon. Nice find !!

Fantastic effort, the website rebuild diary is brilliant, would make a good “How to build your own Hurricane” book. The guy doing the work is one hell of an engineer.

Wow , have to agree fantastic effort. Have done hurricane wings in the past & I know how much work goes into them .

Simple facts are that to rebuild a hurricane would probably cost as much as they are worth !!

Difficult to say really,I just wondered out of P9374 and X4650,which would be considered the most original, not any of the other Spitfires.

The one using the most original parts from said airframe !!

Ok Ive now been informed it was the Kent Spitfire, Is that now in PR blue or was it just my eyes in the blue sky sunlight ? and Is a Merlin or Griffon ? (crikey maybe my ears and eyes are going lol)
I would still like to know what the display was for and who was the pilot.

Hi tailslide TA 805 still in camo scheme & being a MKIX it has a merlin engine.

On the outside of the fuselage? Not on a mk14!

Thanks for sharing Mark. The pipework that runs aft, underneath where the fuselage/wing fairing usually sits: what’s it for?

Hi all , The pipe work probably runs to the air bottles that are usually mounted on the floor between FRs15 & 17 similar to a MKXIV.

    Hacked off !

Hi all, as one of the “team” that worked on P9374 I get really HACKED OFF about the amount of bitching that goes on about “originality” on this forum. If the CAA weren,t happy with these kind of restorations they wouldn,t get done !! You that moan dont seem to appreciate the amount of research & effort that goes into a project like this. And how many of you actually work on Spitfires anyway ? Maybe you bitch because you dont & wish you could !!

    Yours p…ed off.

there was a feature not so long ago showing the a/c being worked on at Spitfire ltd wasnt there? I doubt we will see all the mk1s together. Any pics of them as they are atm?

I’m confused. Which spits are being worked on at Duxford and which at The IOW?

sadsack, P9374 at DX, P9373 & N3200 at Sandown. These are MK 1’s. Cant post pix , client confidenciality and all that . You may well see them altogether some when !!
