My opinion is that this is not the fault of BMED, but its the fault of a very greedy BAA.
I understand that BAA is a buisness and that profits is all that matters to them, but they are wholy to blame for this fiasco, and kind of argument could be avoided, if they just let that slot be, if BMED owns it.
And the Airbus is not running empty by the way…….you have to have at least two flying the thing :D:D
I was there Saturday (Southside), tho I was dissapointed not to see it turn up! A lot of spotters and photographers on the southside were not happy that the PIA didn’t takeoff before the 1200 shutdown of Runway 2 😮
Sorry BRS Guys!

Confirmed closure of the BRS operation. All routes except JER to be dropped. All the best to those affected.
And to add to this, BA cancelling a lot of BACON flights before the takeover!

Yet more confusion when flying bmi I think!
But it is / was owned by Atlantique. Highland’s parent company.
Moggy
Is it?? Well as i say, the links to it are very poor compared to Valley, so i’d think that was the key point in choosing.
Why not Caernarfon? Does Valley has instrument capability?
This will please the North Welsh. Last visit to Caernarfon, the lady taxi driver was bemoaning that her took her ages to drive to Cardiff to see Bryn Terefel (“he’s lovely he is”) and an air service would be much better.
edit: just looked at my BINA. Valley has an ILS on 14.
Caernarfon is really in the middle of nowhere. It has a very poor road connection, no rail connection near by, and the terminal, is more like a shed. Tho the cafe does an excellent brekfast! 😀
Valley on the other hand, has the A55 about a mile from it, connecting it with the rest of North Wales, and Llandudno Junction, where the Welsh Assembly will build a “North” base, whilst you have the North Wales Coast Main Line running right next to it, and I mean right next to it, with rail links, to Bangor, Llandudno, Chester, Crewe, and London Euston.
RAF Valley is the best choice, trust me, I live just down the road from both airfields :p
Ah mongu! Great to hear from you! I remeber talking to you about my trip to IOM with MarkL all those years ago!
All the best to you in Oz! I’m sure you’ll miss the Rock, its one unique island! 🙂
I flew with KLM from Seoul to Amsterdam (and back again) and the flights were each operated by a Boeing 747-400M (‘M’ being Combi). It was the same 747 on both flights – PH-BFT.
Both of the flights were bang on-time and the service was also very good. There were Dutch and Korean cabin crew on the flight, all of which could speak impeccable English. On the 747s, unlike some of their other long-haul aircraft, there were no PTVs, so inflight entertainment had to be enjoyed through the ceiling mounted TVs, but it was also of a very hig standard, with recent films being shown, as well as an assortment of other programmes. Surprisingly, the entertainment did not get switched off at any time during the flight.
The meals served were all very pleasant indeed – mind you, I can’t remember the last airline meal I had that tasted foul!. And the presentation of the meals is also very good. One of the meal boxes also had a pop-out Sudoku card and complimentary pencil.
I used KLM because they were the cheapest at the time – £535 for Seoul to London (via Amsterdam). To be honest, they were so good that I would even be willing to pay more for their services next time.
Anyway, back to Zoom… :diablo:
Superb! I paid £315 so it was superb value! I’m crossing my fingers hard that we do get an MD-11 home 😀
Ahh.. Long-haul KLM – what a pleasant experience that was. I’d fly with them again anyday. 🙂
Without stepping too much on this thread, how were KLM Michael? What a/c did you get and how was the service etc?
Your flying to Vancouver Im Jealous I wanna go back there:( You flying with KLM VIA AMS?
I am indeed James! Looks like a A330 there, and apparently an MD-11 back!!! 😀
What about Melbourne??
They’ve dropped MEL, and transferred the route to QF 🙂
They are a great little airline! One problem tho, is if there is a delay on a previous sector, it can knock on your flight badly, like when we flew with them to Toronto last year, 5 hour delay we had at Manchester, tho they gave us plenty of vouchers, and updated info.
Return leg was good too, back from Vancouver, and I didn’t mind going via GLA at all.
This year tho, were flying KLM to Vancouver 🙂
And i’ll be there the same time as you :D:D
A new £1.5 milion pound terminal is currently under construction, and the RAF will only look after the ATC and saftey side of things.
The local council, has given Operon the contract to look after the commercial operations side.
🙂
I feel this edition was not their best. I was only interested really in the 757 article, and I flew thru it, which I don’t ususally do!
Still a top notch mag tho!
