If memory serves (doing this at work, so can’t check) there were plans for a stretched transport/liaison version known as the Centurion (Miles M.100?) and an improved trainer known as the Graduate which was aimed at the same market as the Jet Provost.
Thanks for that … good question and answers. I was vaguely under the impression Messerschmitt made Bf’s and never stopped to wonder why.
On a broadly similar theme, types like the Magister and Master were for a number of years actually built by Phillips & Powis, although I believe there was a clause stipulating that they would always be known as Miles aircraft and the Miles brothers later bought out P&P and changed the name of the company.
At the risk of going off-topic slightly, I’m sure I read somewhere that at one stage early in the project Fairey’s seriously considered a more conventional twin engined layout for the Gannet, ie one on each wing. Anyone know about this or have any illustrations?
Miles brothers.
And in my country, everyone put some sentence and name in their photo for the copyright reason. I apologise for this.
Mai pen rai. They’re nice photos from a country I love with a passion. Khop khun Khap.
Were there ever any proposals for an advanced Tornado, ie modified (stretched?) airframe, new engines, true multi-role capability, ie both ADV and mud moving in a single model? And going the other way, has anyone got any pictures of how the proposed German single seater might have looked? One last thing, do my fading grey cells deceive me yet again, or was there a proposal once for a lighter, simpler fixed wing variant? (Have my doubts) Cheers.
“Old” Antonov to describe that one (I’ll get me coat)

a fresh cat do do.
Nothing strange about that you might think but just take a look at the pic and ask yourself, How the hell did it manage that?:D 😀 .
John.
A few years ago, we had an ageing cat who had started to leave his calling cards around the house, and someone suggested leaving any leftover pieces of orange peel in likely places, as the citrus smell would supposedly deter him. Guess where he did the business the first time we tried it. Slap bang, perfectly placed in the biggest piece of orange peel. It could only have been deliberate. Got to love cats, haven’t you?

A fine tribute to a life that was really LIVED. Thanks.
Re the original “Sopwith Camel Joystick” I hope some poor unsuspecting aviation enthusiast isn’t in for a sticky time on Christmas morning. I can just picture the scene now; “No Dear, it’s fantastic… um, just what I’ve always wanted. Quite a find (gulp) And yes, of course I’ll get all the lads from the flying club round to see it.” For once, I reckon I’ll be content to find Mrs Creosote has got me socks again. 🙂
