Thanks very much for the informative and helpful reply, SK93. Hoping to visit that neck of the woods in a few weeks, so I will print this for reference. Much obliged.

Really didn’t want to laugh at this at this, but sometimes you just can’t help yourself. (From “Careless Hands, The Forgotten Truth of Gary Sprake”)

David Harvey arrived in a very emotional state. After we had comforted him, he told us tearfully that his pet monkey had committed suicide. The monkey had been watching David’s wife doing the cooking over the years, putting on the gas and then lighting the oven. On that particular day, when Mr and Mrs Harvey were both out, the monkey turned the gas on but couldn’t ignite it and gassed himself.

One of only two survivors from the squadron was a short Scottish Observer by the name of Shuey Hamilton MacFee. He was de-mobbed in December 1945 and, following a period of unemployment, entered the catering trade as a Junior Assistant Brillo Pad (2nd Class) in July 1947. In 1972 his career peaked when he was appointed Chief Cook and Bottle-Washer at the Birmingham-based Crossroads Motel. Sadly, he was to later perish in a huge conflagration which consumed the cardboard motel and severely damaged Benny’s hat.

That’s brilliant. I love you, and I want to have your babies. :D:D:D

STILL trying to unravel Mrs C’s Visa situation for a planned trip to Rome.

    http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=100115

The good news is that under a recent ruling, a spouse of an EEA citizen does not require a Schengen Visa if they have a UK “Residence Card” stamped in their passport. :D:D:D

The bad news is that as many immigration officers are unaware of this, it’s advisable to get a Schengen Visa anyway (Free apart from the time and expense of a trip to Manchester to apply):mad::mad:

Thanks for all the replies, but that wouldn’t actually be a Schengen visa to get into the UK though, would it? I know what you mean though, we had to jump through the same kind of hoops when Mrs Creosote came here, first for a holiday then after we were married. Sometimes wondered if we shouldn’t have just bought a one way ticket to the UK and let her claim political asylum or something. 😀

I just learned of the death in a car accident of a friend from work, he ran the gym. He was a health and excercise nutter, not yet 30, avid Spurs fan, killed in a car accident yesterday morning. We are all just stunned.

Blimey mate, you’re having a real Annus Horribilis, aren’t you? Things will get better in time though, believe me.

My wife is from Belarus so we had some fun times with Schengen visas in the past.

My wife is Thai, so we will need a Schengen visa for her. The form I’ve downloaded from the Italian embassy says that it’s free to the spouses of EU citizens, but you need to prove the relationship. Doesn’t say exactly how, so I guess you have to send the marriage certificate, or hopefully just copies of same? Thanks again for any advice.
