Wasn’t this part of the original plan, though? (Still stoopid though)

The Joys of Flat Packed Furniture !!!! no writing of course just little diagrams.

And cheap worthless screws? A couple of weeks ago I was assembling some shelves and made the mistake of trying to use the screws supplied; first one just disintegrated like papier mache and I ended up having to drill the bl00dy thing out. 😡

No doubt whatsoever that he was treated apallingly, and hopefully now he can get some of the recognition he so richly deserves. Funny old world when we treat genuine heroes like this, and yet give knighthoods to others for reading the news on TV. On the other hand I’m a little uneasy with the notion that we think we can re-write history, or undo what previous generations thought was correct.

Good calll! Actually I’ve never seen that film!

Surprising there’s never been a re-make with the inevitable Leonardo Dicaprio in the lead role.

“Best years of our lives” Dana Andrews was one of the stars

That’s the one. Much obliged, Sir.

“The Road Back”, the sequel to Erich Maria Remarque’s “All Quiet on the Western Front” Fascinating story of weary soldiers struggling to readjust to civilian life. Which leads me to ask if anyone can tell me the name of the famous American film about servicemen in the same situation after WWII? Can’t for the life of me remember.

Someone from the “other side” once said there will never be peace whilst you value your lives much more highly than ours. Consider the air strike which killed dozens of innocent Afghan civilians last week. Of course it was an accident and I understand the need to have destroyed the trucks, but how have we in the West reacted? The politicos will chew it over for a few days, but has it even raised a ripple on the Clapham omnibus, or round the water cooler? Or did we just shrug, maybe mumble something about “that’s a shame”, then move onto Saturday’s football? And yet this is just the sort of event that radicalizes people and breeds foot soldiers for the likes of 9/11 & 7/7. IMHO we will never defeat terrorism purely by military means and need to undermine radicalism by winning over hearts and minds more.
