Hi Philipp, and welcome to the forum. Where are you from? Don’t worry about the language because we all speak “Plane” here.

Why, when so many people clearly loathe and despise the things, do people persist in including them in the traditional Christmas dinner? Ditto olives on pizzas and sliced gherkins in Big Macs (apparently :o) when so many people leave them anyway?

Or is the unpalatable truth that we value West European & North American lives more highly than others?
I heard it go over, and where was I? In the sodding bog. 🙁
Nice to see I’m not the only one with “big bones” :diablo:

Probably being thick here, but I’d assumed it was operational commitments that were limiting RAF participation in the flying display. But if they can spare things like a Harrier, Tornado F3 (?) Puma & Dominie for the weekend, how much more difficult would it be to fly them in the display? Or maybe arrive during the Saturday display and depart during the Sunday display, each time combining it with a couple of touch and goes, or even just passes of the crowd line? Something, anything to get a bit of noise in the sky.
Bit more on Colin here-
Colin’s first appearance was as a shepherd in a school play, and much against his father will, he took up acting professionally until being called up for national service. He served for four years, spending some time in Japan, and taking the opportunity to continue his acting by joining the BCOF. After graduating from drama school in 1952 he joined the Sheffield Rep as assistant stage manager, this was followed by regular theatre work.It was working with Jimmy Perry at the Watford Palace Theatre in 1962, that led him to play the role of Private Sponge, as well as almost 20 years of playing a pantomime dame! His TV appearances have been varied, including ‘Z Cars’, ‘The Gnomes of Dulwich’, 13 episodes of ‘Michael Bentine Time’, although due to arthritis, he has mainly concentrated on his radio work. He has written his autobiography ‘Who Do You Think YOU ARE KIDDING!’ which was published in 1998.

Cheers Zoot. Probably right.
That’s a shame. Often thought there was a lot more mileage in the Pvt Sponge character. Testament to Colin too that he took the part from extra to fully-fledged (if under-used) character.
