I was lucky enough to fly Zurich-Bangkok on Thai MD-11’s a few years ago, usually HS-TME. From the passenger point of view they were even more dated than Thai’s 747’s, but I loved them because there was always something “different” about them, ie compared to the endless Boeings and Airbuses. Always had a soft spot for the DC-10/MD-11 ever since my first ever widebody flight with National (who were then being absorbed into PanAm in (I think) 1980. Never flown Finnair, but I remember seeing one of their 757’s at Phuket and thinking it seemed an odd type for that length of route.

And better looking than the second!

I actually meant the whole A-5, RA-5C etc series, although now I come to think of it the pure bomber is even better looking than the recce jobs.

RA-5C Vigilante. A real beauty, IMHO.

The first I heard of this was on teletext, where the headline was “Two planes collide on runway” Had visions of another Tenerife. Tossers.

Hi Mpacha. Many thanks indeed for the offer, but I guess a photo would not really add much above the photo in the magazine; unless there’s a registration/serial we could Google? When I saw Pagen01’s post and remembered hearing those Shackleton wind-ups myself, I thought I’d been “had” especially as it was the April edition of Air Pictorial. So if it is genuine (?) I wonder how it worked? Hydraulic? Electric?

I’m glad, honoured, privileged and lucky to be alive in your days, Kate. You have always been and will always be the most wonderful of the wonderful.

I say, steady on old man, what?!

Might help if you could book flights on the stupid Ryanair website 😎

Might help if they traded-in the old One-Eleven shown on the BBC report last night. 😀

I am still waiting for the day I see a UFO so that I can belive:cool:

Ditto paranormal stuff. Funny how despite the proliferation of CCTV, camcorders, mobile phone cameras etc, all we ever get is a few seconds of shaky out of focus pictures. Always just enough to be intriguing, but never enough to be conclusive.
