LOL@ “Vodka Burner” and “We have Smirnoff”
This is another hairy take off apparently due to insects blocking the pitot tube so the pilots were getting false ASI readings. The aircraft took out one of the runway lights too. Just as well the section of fence was already missing or that would have gone too.http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8XbINavHtiA

I would say the Jaguar. Thats the only one I can think of thats retired recently
A Spitfire Buzzed my house in Orpington at about midday today, it really rattled the rooftops, it was unbelievably low! Have to guess on it being TA805 The Kent Spit’ as it was headed straight for Biggin Hill!
A friend who works in Air Traffic at Biggin confirmed it to me last night as TA805 as he was the contoller who cleared her in to Biggin along with A Messerschmitt 109 for some do they were having there

The 2.3litre V6 Cologne was unbreakable, its maximum permissible continuous revolutions was 5700RPM! I once froze the coolant in mine solid without doing it any harm.
Ironically the Essex V6 started life as a Saab V4 (and possibly V6).
I would have agreed with you that the Cologne engine was bullet proof when I had My first 2.3 V6 as that used to run sweet despite the oil pressure dropping off the scale when it was warm and I did some miles in that without any problems. However my second V6 wasnt as fortunate when one day it blew up big time. It blew a £2 coin sized hole one one side of the block and a hole so big on the other side I could literaly put my hand in the sump and fish bits out. I have some photos buried somewhere and a big end cap that I fished out. So now I’m not so sure about them being unbreakable.

Blimey, I can see that the magic and romance of cinema is alive and well in this thread…
Personally I believe there’s a world of difference between watching a dvd and experiencing a presentation on the big screen. Long may it continue, even if I do have to support the cause by indulging in a large Westlers hot dog and a diet coke…:D
There have been several films I have seen at the cinema that have kinda lost their magic a little on the small screen. Star Wars, Platoon, Top Gun, Titanic, and many others
The thing that puts me off going to the cinema these days is ignorant people who feel the need to eat in the cinema and try to eat as noisy as possible thus ruining the experience for the rest of us. It was so nice to go and see The Dam Busters last year and thoroughly enjoy the experience after only seeing it on the small screen without some numpty with their bag of sweets or crisps behind me ensuring all I can hear is every mouthful of their food.
