but at least its better than that pitiful offering Mosquito Squadron
sent an email to Richard Simpson, the keeper of aircraft and exhibits, regarding the typhoon and the lanc, this is what i got back. :-
Thank you for your e mail. It is neither beneficial nor detrimental to
the
airframes to put them up into rigging position. We do not see them
perched
up as you describe it but rather an intelligent way of using a
perfectly
natural position to provide a more dynamic exhibit. The only change we
have
made is to provide a tail stand rather than retain the aircraft on a
rigging
trestle. There are two reasons for this. The first is the need for
the
trestles for our everyday work. The second is purely style we think
people
will prefer the most discrete stand we can design.
At the moment there are two more aircraft up on rigging trestles for
operational reasons and they will come down when the work is complete.
The
DH9A is not actually at rigging position but is up on a low stand to
facilitate floor work underneath the aircraft. The Hanriot HD1 is in
rigging position as technicians continue to work on its moving surfaces
prior to the opening of the GW Factory building.

Hope this helps
Lets hope they dont end up going they same way as most of the other airframes – to be urned on some airfield fire dump or to go to T H E Scrapman. Nice pics though!
I think the Corsair pics look about the best. The Beaufighters are too obviously models and either v.poor CGI or superimposed on a photograph. whoever did them needs to try harder to fool anyone.
Excellent photo that man (black6)!!!!!!!!!
Thats the one my mind went blank, thanks for that
Nice pics, Interesting camouflage scheme on the tornado! Like the hurricane with the Hind and not sure of the other one, anyone know?
I have this documentary on video it was released by DD Video some years ago and was one of the first videos I bought along with a vid about the Shackleton. Im not sure if it is available on DVD, there is nothing on amazon or the DD Video website but you could try e-mailing the customer services manager at jbooth@dd-video.co.uk, hope this helps.

Anyone know what happened to the other 109 that was flying around the same time as Black6, I think it was a G10 and was it Hans Dittesthat owned it? I’ve not heard anything about it for ages, does it still fly? Or is it now grounded?

655 is indeed looking her best right now, but as a trustee of XM655, I know what our limits are, I am the youngest member and I am in my mid 30’s. It is very hard to get interest from the young ones. Working outside in all weathers, does not seem to appeal these days to our young generation!
With regards to gaining interest in the younger generation, have you tried approaching your local Air Cadet units? With the cuurent state of the Royal Air Force Many cadets rarely get the chance to get ‘up close and personal’ with aircraft these days apart from the odd 20 min Grob tutor flight or a spell in a glider and maybe a quick look at an aeroplane whilst on summer camp. As an Instructor with the Air Cadets I think it would be an excellent opportunity to encourage interest in the project whilst also helping with their classification training with the ultimate training aid (a real aeroplane) and citizenship training by raising money for the project

obviously bae couldnt give a monkeys. history doesnt matter for an example see concorde!
I would add Nimrod prototype XV147 to that list of examples. As for Vulcans that are gone in 5 years definately XL391 here in Blackpool I would even shorten that to 2-3 years, bits are coming off already
For me it would have to be the BBMF Lancaster PA474 as I’ve sat in her on engine runs and helped do some work on her as a 15 year old Air Cadet on summer camp
Thanks for that info daz, I will see if I can find one

Where did you get the Buchon kit? Or is it a convert? I have toyed with the idea of doing a HE111 and convert it to a CASA 2111 with Merlins from an old Lancaster kit I have which ‘crashed’ a number of years ago. If there is a Buchon kit available does the company make a CASA 2111 as a kit?
