Two warbirds at a distance from Cliffe, Kent, looked to be P40s or a P40 and something else? May have been TFC’s later model one at the back of the formation. Anyone else see these?

TFC’s P40B and F departed to Goodwood yesterday afternoon.

    Quoting from Flypast June 2010:

… As it seeks to expand, the first phase well be the creation of a new hangar alongside the current one. It will house the flying aircraft, plus pilot and changing rooms and a possibility unique ‘engineering library’ for publications relating to the Mk. I spitfire… As well as the flyers. the new hangar will be big enough to house a DC-3 or Lancaster, so in theory we’ll be able to service the BBMF’s large aircraft should they wish us too”

I believe that was one of the reasons that they wanted to build a new hangar, to be able to conduct work on the larger BBMF aircraft and to house the airworthy aircraft that are owned and maintained by ARCo.

What’s happening at the Eastern End ??

I understand that the site next to the ARCo hangar is being cleared and construction will begin on a new hangar.

I think I saw it while travelling down the slip road towards the M11. (this was a few weeks ago) I saw what looked like a Spitfire with a Griffon Engine poking through the open door on the side of the ARCO hangar.

Can you reveal the markings she will be in Roobarb?

From his Biography on his webpage :

I utilised an “enthusiastic” approach to combat flying and it soon led to trouble when my use of landing flap in the tight corners of ACM (air combat manoeuvres or dogfighting) resulted in over-stressing two sets of Sea Vixen flaps. Apart from gaining me the nick name “FLAPS”, my then Commanding Officer, the late “Dusty” Milner, ensured that I became an expert on the installation and mechanical operation of the Sea Vixen Flap system!

The 109’s were portrayed by Hispano HA112-M1L Buchons. Spanish built ME109’s with a Rolls Royce Merlin instead of the DB609.

The container in Brian’s photo is Bringing an aircraft/aircrafts to Duxford I believe while the Container in Duxman’s post is taking away one.

While talking about containers it’s worth noting that SNAFU’s containers are still at Duxford outside the TFC hangar.

    My day at DX

Here’s my take on a very buisy and hot day at Duxford:

Nord 1002 flew a number of sorties through the day:

    Nord 1002

TFC had a hangar shuffle during the morning with their Bearcat, Nimrod, Gladiator and P40B out in the sun:

    Bearcat

    TFC Hangar

Later on in the Day the TFC Harvard went for a quick test and training flight:

    Harvard FE695

As soon as the Harvard left the Desert Buchon arrived:

    Hispano HA112-M1L Buchon

Spitfire SM520 departed for its home base:

    Spitfire T9 SM520

The flying continued with Pete Kynsey flying an aerobatic display in the cosmic wind:

    Cosmic Wind

And finally to round off the days action was Carl Schofield (I think) beating up Duxford in TFC’s Spitfire XIV:

    Spitfire XIV MV278
