Can anybody find a good link to the Hunting Firecracker that lost to the Tucano to replace the Jet Provost in RAF service in the 80s? Google doesn’t seem to help much.

But the Viggen first flew in 1967 so I think it should stay in. I still take the F4 because, for all its faults, it was one of the first to catch my imagination and fuel my interest in aviation. It wasn’t at all bad at what it did either The Mirage F1 is a real cracker too and the MiG 23 is just hairy and lairy (in a good, wholesome way) but its still the Phantom for me.

Okay chaps I think this should be left alone now. No offence, thanks for the support, respect for those that disagree but it has been looked at now. Can we close this thread before there is an argument please mods?
Thanks
Phil
Frank please check your PMs, you too please Daz.

All,
It is inevitable that all (well at least most!) of us will have a degree of national pride. Can I however suggest that form now on when debating the relative merits of different equipment or national forces we do not resort to slagging each other off but act in a polite manner.
If you agree with this please post a response!

I’m all for it. Love to see it actually work though.

π 1.) No that’s not my definition of narrow minded. But you perfectly show with every post again how ignorant and narrow minded you are.
2.) I know you know all and you are Mr. perfect and the only aviation enthusiast out there in the whole wide world.Prove IT. Bring up yor so called counter points and let’s SEE who is actually informed and gives accuarte infos to others. As i say the more i read about your so called analysis on both aircraft, the more i see a guy with little knowledge of all necessary basics on the subject.
Get a life i’m done arguing wiht guys of your kind, i learn too litte appart for that they keep trying to look knowledgeable in forums coming up with the same low-technical and historical stuff time and time again.
Not informative enough for my liking. I will avoid responding to your post from now on for all the good reasons..
For everyone else info: Rafale front gear retract forward, meaning there is aerodynamic forces involved in case of mecanical failure for getting it down….
Why should he Fonk? Afterall you have never proved a damn ‘point’ in any thread, now explain why you should be treated differently to anybody else?
Oh. Sorry. How silly of me. I have just invited another bitter, twisted racial attack that will not be moderated because Fonk is not British and I am.
Also when somebody gets all nationalistic about the Typhoon what are they being nationalistic about I wonder? Germany? Italy? Spain? Britain? Europe? Just how can you be nationalistic about an international project?
You are a xenophobe Fonk and so too are you Nungesser/PilotGHT (did you finally have your rabid account permanently locked out?) You could not form a balance opinion if your lives depended on it, fair comment is not your ‘modus operandi’. You lie to to score points and then change your argument completely to make another. Your exaggerated BS becomes more twisted and mutated every time you post only now you are being aided and abbetted by the ‘moderators’. Good allies when you can get them. No worries I expect I’ll be unable to post a reply to your tediously undisguised hatred as most likely I’ll be banned for daring to suggest that some of the moderators are being rather less than impartial.

Hi DDJ
Most any discussion regarding the Typhoon usually turns into a “My Rafale will beat up your Typhoon” debate. Check out my posts going back five years and you will see that IΒ΄m one of the chief culprits.
The RafaleΒ΄s air-to-ground capability is undeniably better than that of the Typhoon. It has more hardpoints, more of them are “heavy”, more of them are “wet” and it can carry more outright. Some more subtle details like the absence of a dedicated airbrake and simple to remove air intakes point to a manufacturer that has many years experience in the field of fighter aircraft.
The Typhoon probably has a slight edge in terms of outright turn performance but it is not much. I donΒ΄t want this thread to degenerate into a “letΒ΄s trash the Typhoon” thread. It can carry lots and flies like hell- IΒ΄ve seen it fly several times now. It is going to be a fine plane.
However if I know that IΒ΄m going to spend a winter operating from some rudimentary wind-swept runway in central Asia without the luxury of a heated hangar I know which plane will be on my wishlist.
Yup……………………..A Typhoon.

Sad news, I remember the book very well. I read it when I was about 12 I think.

Wozza if I can find out how to do it I will. Don’t use MSN much. I suppose its too much to hope the filth who did this has any chance of being caught? One day, political correctness will be put in its ‘correct’ place. Then they will catch them and upon conviction they will be handed over to the family concerned, who will then decide what is to be done with them.

Yes, you are right. Russia should supply cheap energy to Europe even when Europe Turns away from Russia and looks to the US for leadership and partnership. Or perhaps not.
Ukraine is turning away from Russia towards the West. Why should Russia treat Ukraine as a special friend if the Ukraine turns its back on that friendship?
Alternatively a country could try to balance its political relationships rather than being obliged to choose one over the other. When you get right down to it why should the Ukraine be an enemy of Russia because it is a friend of the USA?

Strange thing is, even now I feel I sense things, I was in a building which belongs to my wife’s mother’s friend, I could sense something in there, I asked her if it was haunted and she said “how did you know that”? I just told her I sensed something was here, I did that on 4-5 occasions in different places, I also know when someone is watching me, my lawn in my back garden is 70 feet away from the house and down a considerable slope by a river, it takes about an hr to mow the lawn, all of a sudden I stop, I look up and the wife is watching me out the window, and I go all cold and break out into a sweat, other times have been when I’m going to work at 4:45am, I pull out of my driveway then !!BAM!! it hits me, I look up to the landing window and the wife is watching me go to work (she sometimes gets up for the loo when I go), very strange.

Yesd I concur. I break into a cold sweat when my wife is watching me too. Especially seeing as she wants another baby. π
