It is only a game. It does not affect anything in life except by people who feel that it is akin to chest-beating and sabre-rattling.

It is an irrelevant game. And before you accuse me of having no pride for our country, tell me the date that you personally swore the oath of allegiance to Her Majesty, Her Heirs and Successors etc etc. I swore that in 1990 and have never regretted it. I have always lived up to it.

I know that you dont support the thug element, wouldn’t dream of accusing you of that. But, my eyes are open and have always been so.

I’m off to bed now, so I depart offering you my hand.

    Night all.

I swore it in 1985 do I count?

Yes. But it pervades all walks of life. The fact , for example, (good chaps as most of you are) that none of you lot on here call me sir is disgraceful.

    Sorry sir. 😀

I think they DID a death. Never mind. They got took over by Rage software who promptly got them to butt bugger the Eurofighter Typhoon simulator (that incidentally got me into computers in 1995) into something nobody liked or wanted. Rage were never interested in simulators and the sequal to Ef2000 and Super EF2000 (Eurofighter Typhoon) was a complete pile of rabbit droppings. I dream that one day they will make a comeback though.

I am sorry but a 600 ship navy is about as scary to the Soviets as a new 5 year plan to build 5,000 brand spanking new tractors would be to the US.

No worries mate you’ve gotta keep laughing haven’t ya? 😀

“Have a look at the Putnams Supermarine book for a number of duds by Mitchell. Of Camm’s ‘failures’ even the Typhoon (to which I think you refer?) was very effective; flawed by inadiquate knowledge of compressability; but recoverable as a design.”

……………and don’t forget that the Typhoon begat the Tempest.

    Burt Rutan.

Well maybe he’s not my favourite, but still pretty damn fantastic and topical.

Good call. I would have to agree with you.

Barnes Wallis designed a few decent types as well as bombs and old Reg Mitchell deserves a mention but I have to agree with the Sid Camm lobby here, very prolific and exceptionally talented. Didn’t he design the Harrier as well?

“Hahahaha… Yes, I am sure Gorby was scared out of his mind. I mean how could he secure his sealines of communications with an inferior navy… oops wait a minute he didn’t have any sea lines of communications. The range of Soviet SLBMs meant they could fire their missiles tied up in dry dock and still hit their targets. The Soviet Navy was otherwise expendible.”

Garry you are doing the ‘Hahahaha!’ thing again how many times have I got to tell you? It really makes it look like you are losing your grip. Honestly I’m just offering advice here from one nutcase to another. 😀

Well I am not a Christian so you can defend it. I only know that these thugs as you call them are Muslims and they are advocating the murder of non-Muslims and quoting Islamic material. Now I don’t speak Arabic but I have read a little about Islam and many statements are made about Christians and Jews and others and the essential message is if you can’t convert them to Islam, then kill them. Many of the officials of Islam preach violence on a daily basis. Facts are facts.

I think you are a little out of date when you have to refer to the KKK. Surely you can do better than that and give us something more current.

Snapper may be a little fuzzy about Canadian versus U.S. geography. It seems to be common among some Brits and I think it’s the relative size of Canada versus the UK that puts them off stride. 😉 You on the other hand being expert all all thing would never mistake a Canadian for an American would you.

    Sauron

Thing is though they also advocate the murder of Muslims if they are deemed to be slightly friendly to non muslims or have had occasion to speak to non muslims. Put simply nobody is safe and ironically muslims are the least safe out of all of us because they are the ones stuck in the middle and threatened from all sides.

Accelerated arms build up, hardened ideological stance, undermined Soviet war in Afghanistan.

You may not like him, many successful people in history were unlikable, but he made the right calls and was uncompromising when he didn’t need to. That is how you win wars. Another US President, John F Kennedy, was just as uncompromising and ideological with regard to foreign policy. Perhaps you would be more approving of his style of oration. Contemporaries do tend to judge people on style rather than actualy deeds. I think historians will be generous with Reagan.

As for RR was Granada the right call? Was it even executed correctly? JFK might well have made the right calls but did he have the right people around him? I can’t remember General Le Mays (spelling please) first name so forgive me for ommitting it but was he not advocating attacking the Soviet Union wether or not they backed down? How do these hair trigger episodes in human history develop? I’m not criticising JFK he had little choice in my opinion to stand his ground and it is probably just as well that he did but this wasn’t the first time a top commander was bullish about the use of nuclear weapons against the ‘commies’ I am of course talking about McArthur in Korea.

Surely what is needed in these situations is perfect accord between master and commander (figuratively speaking of course) whereby the commander simply does as he is told and does not try to force his own agenda and this was JFK’s and Harry Truman’s strength. Yet they still had to stand their ground against both the Soviets and the Chinese and their own supreme or in theatre commanders. Surely the last thing a world leader needs in these situations is to have to fight a political war on two fronts, one against the potential enemy and the other against his own commanders. He is a world leader not a piggy-in-the-middle. The military simply must subordinate itself to the civilian government, its not perfect but its better than a military dictatorship…………………..and then we have George W 🙁

You’ll be happy to hear i am currently working on a load of Spitfire IXc skins for release in about a week. I will be posting them to il2skins.com which already has a huge amount of skins available for every aircraft in the sim.

I can almost guarantee that I will be downloading them all.
