All Good Stuff
Sorry if posted before
Nice flying in a lovely aircraft. Great to see a Hurricane is a different colour scheme. A ambition fulfilled for the pilot, as I know his dream has been to fly a Hurricane all his career. A lot of work goes into preparing for a display. This shows the concentration needed to do this things safely.
Enjoyed the Spitfire, as he flew a good formation keeping a tight ship with the Hurricane.
RLangham – The East Fortune machine is from the same development batch of Harriers
that produced the Wittering GR.1 (DB). That is her designation . The laser nose was fitted for aerodynamic trials and test. These GR.1 (DB) machines ironed out the Harrier in the hands of Bristol Siddeley ,Boscombe Down and the manufacturers.
Harriers GR.3 XV753 is with Classic Flight at Newquay . Saw it yesterday when visiting.
Scarlett Johannson!
We understand that the Nany (FAA) operated sea Furies from Henstridge for a short period while Yeovilton was having its runway repaired. Does anyone have any pictures ?
Has anyone any news if things have moved forward ?
I have a friend who owns one. He bought it off the chap who built it, earlier this year. It appeared in the October copy of LAA Magazine.
I’ll see if either of them can help.
There were some two seaters on the Russian front, with open cockpits.
A bit chilly !
What’s the best way to find out the full history of this Hurricane that’s for sale ?
A camo coloured Harvard was doing aeros to the west of Henstridge today, while the new RAF A330 tanker was going around the area out of Boscombe again.
One of the best days for flying today, clear, smooth and great visibility for watching planes as well as flying them.
Formation Today
A silver Broussard and a very dark (think it was blue not black) aircraft went over Henstridge this morning going West to East. I think the blue aircraft was the Cauldron – had a long nose, going to Sywell or Shuttleworth ?
If anyone sees them please let me know where you saw them. Very unusual formation and great to see.
A Transell went over Henstrdige going into Yeovilton, and then a few hours later heading out towards the East.
We also had a Tornado doing tests over us from Boscombe as well as a AB412 flying West in a green camoflage and orange top (any ideas who the latter belongs to ?) . And its only Tuesday, amazing what comes out to play on a sunny day !
VC-10 – HENSTRIDGE
An RAF VC-10 just went around Henstridge going on finals with gear down onto Yeovilton. Time 12.55pm

Conjecture always arises after such events.
The aircraft took off at 18.03 and landed wheels up at 20.00 (1hr 57m airborne) with the engine off and with minimal damage. The pilot called Bremgarten at 18.45 to say he had an undercarriage problem and spent the next 1 hour and 15 minutes talking to Meier Motors chief pilot and attempting to release the jammed undercarriage lever.
Matthius, had you been there I’m sure you would have taken some stunning photographs of the fly bys with the left gear hanging low.
Happy Landings
