the fact that he turned his back on Bomber command after the war did it for me, after being a champion of the force from the beginning, the war cabinet and WC did them(BC) up like a kipper! 😡

I was thinking about him just the other week aswell….. I always got the impression he was a good bloke from his photos, not as hard nosed as some of his fellow single seater chums……… any one know him personally?

Its a shame he got a rough deal after what happened to him in Korea, I always thought the yanks were more compassionate towards their combat bods than our own, but maybe not…?

    RIP Sir

I know,I was being sarky, I only live 10miles from the place…. more is made of his association with the drome than the unit that was stationed there, 51 OTU
for which there is no proper ‘unit’ memorial.

Did anyone get a pic of the spit on the fryin pan dispersal?

    Very sad news indeed….:(
I had the pleasure of receiving a phone call from him once, just before christmas just gone with regards his time with 50sqn.
Well lets hope he and his fellow BC chums in the clouds are having a nice pint and catch up. I wonder if it will make even his local news channel?

the day they (MP spongers) get a back bone n man up to the fact that it was them and their policies that should take the blame and not the ‘many’ brave lads at the pointy end of the stick who should suffer the stigma/bad press, then it will happen, but as we all know they are like jelly fish in that department. 🙁
