Finding out that I’m not involved in anything. I’m gutted.
I may have sweared. Just a little bit like, but it was there.
Four days of legendary classic car racing at Le Mans. 1200 miles in my old Jag, no break downs.
Chasing two Shelby Cobra’s down the Mulsanne straight in my little XJ6 after the race (even though I hadn’t got a hope in hell of catching them for real!)
:D:D:D:D:D:D
Yeah, the smiles are going to be here for a while.
725 days to the next Le Mans Classic….

Mein Gott…!
Shouldn’t that be “Great Scott..!”

I made it there on the Sunday… the first I knew about Graham’s Spit was when I heard what sounded like a Merlin firing up close to where we were with the classic cars! It looks and sounds awesome! 😀
I don’t know about you guys, but I was mightily impressed with the re-enactors camps.. even if it was a little disturbing that some of the SS were speaking with perfect Sheffield accents. 😮

The Temora Aviation Museum has the receipt. That’s where it ‘belongs’. Get over it, or get over and see it. 😎
Regards,
From an ownership point of view, yes. From a historical point of view, possibly. From the average UK enthusiasts point of view, no. In my opinion it doesn’t really ‘belong’ anywhere, it’s just staying there for the moment. It’s all part of the life of the aircraft.
I’m another one that would like to see that aircraft in the UK, though. I’d like to see some of the Syrian aicraft repatriated too, but I wouldn’t know where to start, jets aren’t really my thing and I’ve already got my hands full with what I’m involved in.
It’s all very well suggesting that a group come up with money, and a plan, but since a rather spectacular old V-bomber has sucked up quite a bit of the spare cash from enthusiasts, things are a bit thin over here. There’s also a bit of a recession going on. (Shhh… don’t tell the anybody. 😀 )
Not all of us have the ways and means to travel half way round the world to see an aircraft. To suggest that it is something that someone should just “Get over” is a bit off. God knows, I’d love to see some of the collections in Australia and New Zealand, but I haven’t got the disposable income at hand yet to be able to do it.

ITS UP!!!!
Rumour mill says the Vulcan has flown… anybody heard anything?
That’s because none of the roads that aren’t on that list even come close! It does say in the article that Scotland had the highest risk motorway and A-roads… so the survey was UK wide.
Seven of the roads mentioned are within the Peak District area, and they are all great roads, but the sad fact is you have to avoid wiped out bikers and crashed cars on busy days.
It’s not uncommon to come across wreckage strewn across the road and an ambulance on its way.

Ric

I like the series 1, but the series 2 seems to ‘fit’ me better. That’s why I’m going to do the series 2 to my own spec. Make it into a 1/2 hybrid, with a more modern Jaguar engine, purely for the fun of the build.
I wouldn’t dare do it to the series 1, as it’s too original. I got it’s birth certificate back from Jaguar, and all the numbers are original… engine, gearbox, axle, the lot.
