Grandad cars?! Some people just don’t have any taste.
😀
There’s a yard about half a mile from where I sit with four or five of those old Rover P5B’s in. They’re all outside under snow and ice and the miserable garage owner won’t let me wake even one them up… or give one a home.
Good picture though. I’ll see if I can get a picture of the others tomorrow.

Just to cheer everybody up, I suggest you watch this classic:

No real snow here in Chesterfield at the moment (not since the last knee deep stuff a couple of weeks ago). There’s a little dusting on the ground but the temperature is crazy low. The parents MX5 has just died after the coolant froze and killed the water pump.

I haven’t seen your resignation in writing yet – and thats assuming I accept it.. (You got me into this, so if I stay, you stay! :dev2: )
E-mail me a picture that you’re comfortable with and we’ll put you on there mate. You’re still part of things however much you protest.

Constructive criticism is always appreciated, so don’t worry Peter. We had noticed a few errors, and it’s getting checked and corrected.

Best shot I have of one with nothing in the way. This is the pilots side.
Its a co-pilots side throttle box from a Shackleton. The pilots side is a mirror image of that with the levers angled the other way, the friction locks on the other side and a little detent for the rudder lock.
One of our newer members (Lee Thorn) has been hard at work starting a new website for WR963, so you can find out all about what we’re doing on there.
It’s only in its early stages, but if you fancy a peek, it can be found at

5. See a certain Shackleton running… 😉
I too intend to see that happen! 2011 will be 20 years in preservation for 963, so we’re hoping to celebrate it appropriately.
I also want to see the Mossie when it gets to the UK.
Harry Graves’s farm, down Lockoford Lane, took a few bombs in the field there. Maybe long gone craters now ? No doubt built on ? I was in our air raid shelter that night, in Brimington Road. Also sat in the cockpit of a captured Me 109 in the Drill Hall close to Queens park. Happy childhood days 🙂
There’s a few craters out towards Grangewood Farm, and Tupton lost a few houses. No idea about Lockoford Lane but I’ll ask about.
Which Drill hall? The one on Boythorpe Road?
Regards,
Ric
Marvellous stuff! Well done for daring to do something that little bit different. It would have been a shame to see it cut up for a road move.
