I see sealord is back to hes usual islam bashing. Just to clarify the archbishop has mentioned about using some Shariah law in courts not any muslim body so before everyone go’s out and starts to lynch muslims do read that part again.

On a more serious note, religious courts do exist in the UK and have such as the jewish beth din. If hes refering to something like this well it kind of allready exists. I dont support implementing any shariah within UK law, this country is majority non-muslim so it makes no sence as i think it may isolate minority groups more. Hes speech seems more politically motivated, maybe hes trying to draw more masses to the church. Might actually work.

The introduction of Islamic law into UK law is even more worrying than the establishment of a parallel system. Fortunately the overwhelming response to this seems to have quite rightly been absolute disgust.

I’m just pointing out that Christianity took the early moral high ground, and did it spectacularly ruthlessly, in the name of God. Islam has evolved to the point where the Religion and its followers are now on their own form of Crusade. We see radicalisation and Islamisation everywhere. Is Islam now going through the process of evolution that Christianity spent the last 600 years going through? Both Islam and Christianity preach tolerance, love, compassion, consideration for one’s fellow man. Neither Religion has a proud track record in living up to its own teachings.

I am merely suggesting that as it took Christianity the best part of 600 years to realise that their previous conduct was, shall we say, unacceptable, why would you expect Islam to learn the lesson any quicker?

In sustainability terms there is a world of difference between the life-cycles of say, the Blue Whale and the Atlantic Cod.

There used to be something like 200,000 to 300,000 Blue Whales in the Antarctic there are now estimated to be 5000 – 12,000 in all the oceans of the world. When commercial whaling of Blue Whale was banned in 1966 they were on the brink of extinction and over the last forty odd years it is unclear if the world population has increased significantly or even remained stable.

Blue Whales are mammals, and as mammals they take a long time to reach sexual maturity, typically five to ten years, they breed slowly with a female only having a single calf (sometimes two) every two or three years and that calf is dependant on its mother for the first year of its life. It is estimated that they can live for eighty years (nobody is sure but the oldest known with any certainty is thirty-five).

It is possible for Atlantic Cod to recover much more quickly from commercial fishing however due to over-fishing many populations are close to collapse and it is possible that a change in the balance of their specific eco-system may have occurred that will prevent stocks ever recovering even if all commercial fishing was suspended indefinitely.
