Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t the Archbishop talking about the parts of Sharia that govern interpersonal dealings rather than the “legislative” elements? A sort of mutually-agreed binding arbitration, rather like the Jewish P’Sharah which is well-established in Jewish communities around the world?
In my opinion the Archbishop’s comments are part of a wider campaign by the Anglican church to gain acceptance of the principle that, in certain areas at least, decisions based on religious dogma should carry weight at law.
The Archbishop has simply mentioned the Sharia as a “stalking horse” to ensure that he grabs the headlines and to spark off a wider debate.
As I said above, I’m strongly opposed to the idea.
One law for all with no exceptions, and let’s keep religion – all religion – out of it.
Well if that really was his point then it was a waste of time. Such systems are already in place in the UK. Islamic courts already sit and oversee personal relationships on a religious basis although they are not recognised by British law. However the level of detachment from the state that many of these communitys have means that such legal issues make very little actual difference.

Yes I see where your coming from Jonesy the RN cant afford to deploy big expensive gas turbine man intensive frigates and destroyers for ocean patrols which just require a good ocean going patrol vessel stable in high sea states with proper aviation facilities and accommodation. I agree C3 doesn’t need to be a light frigate just weapons for self defence and have looked what VT is offering for C3 and it does look good. I would like to hear what your C3 specs/requirement would be Jonesy and Ed. Mine would be as followed
.4000 Tonnes
.76mm Gun
.RAM for self defence
.Diesel machinery
.Aviation facilities for 1 Merlin including hanger
.Flexideck separate from the flight deck
.Accommodation for an extra 70-80 personal
.Speed of 25 Knots
.Range 7,000 nmFrosty
I might be wrong but I have a sneaking suspicion that you will be highly unlikely to get that lot on 4000 tonnes.
I have yet see an explanation as to why a Navy with the second largest amphibious fleets in the world and a perpetual manpower crisis needs all this extra accommodation on what will likely be an OPV and MCM vessel at most.
Or do I 😡 Research my **** its just another way for them to get whale meat 😡
And that is wrong becouse? How is Japanese people eating whale meat different to English people eating cod and chips?

Western Law is largely derived from Judao-christian values (etc) however it has long since transcended its religious dimension. If the UK allowed the adoption on any part of Sharia into its legal system it will have taken a step backwards towards the dark ages.
In comparison to western society, one which is fast being emulated across the non-muslim world (not counting the disaster area that is Africa) large parts of Sharia are babaric and oppressive and not only be avoided in the west but actively opposed in the Islamic world too.

So what? The article is still BS. DRDO has cateorically rejected working with US on ABM. Why would they need PAc-3 when the development of AAD and Barak-8 is going on well.
Becouse SM-3 is the better missile (have you seen the upgrade program for it?) and it would provide access to things like THAAD and potentially KEI.
Without getting into micro analysis in its latest form the J-8 is comparable to the various upgraded Phantoms that are floating around. Ultimately we will not see any firther developments of the type but it will not be replaced overnight.
The J-10 may have been portrayed as swing role but thus far the evidence is that it posesses only a light attack capability and the real strike potential is in dedicated aircraft such as the JH-7A, it will be interesting to see how what they integrate onto the J-11B in this respect.
Guess those Kitty Hawk boys are happy it didn’t explode in a nuclear fireball 😉
Even better question is how they let the sub right under the carrier?
Well how exactly were they going to stop it? Sink s submarine in international waters during peace time?
Does anyone have a spare irony meter I could borrow?
Mine seems to have spontaneously combusted……. :diablo:
You should not have made it out of flammable materials then.;)

Communism is one of the biggest social engineering, and a successful one indeed, you dont get this point do you that, where Communism is minority it is Capitalists (West) biggest friends, and where it is the majority, it is the biggest enemy.
To carry out the interest of their own, even till this day the West (anglo-saxon world order) uses Communism to foster its own interests in countries where they are in minorities. So I dont see both going away because they are sometimes made for each other whereas sometime enemies.
Certainly true, what should be remembered about communism is that it has the same social values as liberal western states, if sometimes in a slightly more extreme form. The difference lies in the economic and political structures, in the case of China it is now only the political. Consequently a communist state is far more desirable than a religious one even if a democratic state is more desirable than them both.
No its not flawed because these are social issues and not religous. Flogging of a raped women in Saudi arabia is not a common theme but just as it hit the news recently and seems to have hit your heart on the matter your taking on a personal crusade over it. There are many tribal and cultural practises carried out in muslim countries that dont mean its down to islam, its like saying priests raping young boys in the west makes christianity a pedaphile religion. Totally ludicrous way to try and demonise islam.
By you saying islam is violent dont make it violent so continue to jump up and down, the west needs to take responsibility for the geo political problems they have caused in muslim countries giving rise to extremism.
I havnt called the west evil so you get a grib but highlighted the ills of humanity is not localised to any religion/people or race. Why are you having a hard time with that.
You just cant admit it can you, in many of its incarnations Islam causes persecution.
Stop behaving childish and answer why its wrong, simple reason you cant. lets have a quick look here, the west launched crusades on muslim lands, then through the 15 century till today has occupied, pillaged and looted the lands. And you talk about islam seeking to destroy the world, never come across such a delusional person. Name me a single time in the last 50 years a muslim army has invaded western europe or america for that matter. Gosh im having problems remembering such a time
wah wah wah wah wah wah, evil west makes us stone and flog our women, murder homosexuals and bomb underground trains and nightclubs waaaaaaah!
Get a grip.
Muslim armys have not invaded Europe or America becouse they are too weak to do so., or in the case of Turkey not barbaric and savage to the extent that the likes of the Taliban are.
