When I lived on the farm I used to do a lot of pigeon decoying over stubble.

This would end up with scores of the birds at which point I’d simply remove the breasts and junk the rest. Those that you didn’t use fresh stood up well to freezing.

I used the breasts for many dishes, curries were particularly tasty as the flavour of the meat could withstand strong spices.

On one memorable occasion I did bone and stuff a couple of birds. Took ages and though very nice possibly not worth the effort other than as an experiment.

Personally I prefer a rather simple approach to the use of pigeon breasts, I simply fry them in unsalted butter and then have them with salad, usually for lunch, most satisfying.

Rabbit and Squirrel make for excellent stew.

That justification cannot be perfect because ‘rights’ are not absolute, they are an invention of man to moderate his behaviour; they do not exist in nature.

I don’t see where exactly I have failed to grasp that man has a choice; my whole argument has been that I personally find this choice abhorrent, and I freely admit that it is utterly hypocritical, illogical and sentimental.

Today that is a possibility, a ridiculous possibility, but three-hundred years ago the Inuit thought that they were the only human beings on the earth…but times change, and with them our ‘rights’ and more importantly our responsibilities.

I think that Mr Tebbitts ever present senility is beginning to show even more, perhaps SeaLordLawrence would like to volunteer to give them lessons at shooting as well advice on what to kill, the local authorities might even have a few harpoon guns lurking in the council vaults that they could lend him.
I’ve just driven past the shooting butts at Andrewsfield, I was very tempted to ask them what they thought of the idea of a load of reprobate teenage druggies being let lose with a collection of AK-47’s, I decided that their comments might be a little too much for me today, after all it is Pancake Day, perhaps a national youth scheme on making pancakes might be more appropriate, and less harmful to the environment of course.

Nobody would be let loose with AK-47’s, for a start the weapon is highly illegal in the UK. Secondly it has very little utility (compared with other firearms) with regard to hunting.

Introducing youngsters to the true power of a firearm before they find out by shooting a person is a very sensible idea. The mental conception is very difficult until it is actually witnessed, you can tell a person that a weapon is deadly over and over again but until they actually see its real effects they struggle to understand it

From a very young age I was taught to shoot, that includes all the safety, common sense and responsibility that comes with it. I feel that it endeared me with a level of responsibility beyond my years in general and gave a real understanding of how powerful a weapon a gun really is (A sense which I genuinely feel is eroded by Video games) furthermore shooting in the countryside gave an appreciation of the natural world, of which humans are a part, that is simply not possible otherwise.

In short, if managed properly this is an excellent idea, even better if what the kids shot was then served up for them at the end of the day to combine the lessons of responsibility and healthy eating/good food.

There is clearly a relevance/relationship between flight hours and personnel proficiency.

However, one is a way to an end, another is the final result.

In our case, the way is flight hours, and the final result = personnel proficiency.

And specifically in terms of the RuAF, we have the FINAL RESULT, and it’s GOOD according to the source I provided. Therefore flight hours can be considered fairly irrelevant. So the do you understand? Probably not. :rolleyes:

You stated that the current in service Tu-95’s can fire Kh-22’s……..without providing a source.

You claimed that the Kh-41 was in service…….without providing a source.

You have made the ridiculous statement that flight hours are irrelevant in relation to crew proficiency.

Time and again you have made unfounded and wrong statements and as proved above every time you are shown to be wrong you resort to insults.

As I said I find whaling abhorrent under almost any circumstances. For example I accept that it is necessary for certain Inuit peoples to hunt Narwhal for the vitamin C in their skin, as the Inuit have no other source for this, I also accept that this hunting is an ancient practice and an important tradition within their communities.

But without that necessity no ‘rights’ are conferred on the rest of mankind…..and without necessity you are dealing with choice.

People choose to hunt whales and you cannot justify it by simply saying man is a hunter therefore it is his right.

That is perfect justification. What you are failing to grasp is that man has a choice in most things he does, that includes farming livestock, yet he does it anyway. The Inuit do not have to be Inuit, they could easily uproot buy a farm in dorset and become self sufficient vegetarians if they so desired.
