I personally think that ultimately the US will start dishing out the source codes of the F-35 to valued customers but that its a few years away at the moment. The problem is a combination of the current administration, and the very high tech nature of the F-35.
The point is that if you’re in the defense industry, you are going to overemphasize and exploit any possible avenue that you can to get your product sold. This is just the latest example.
Now, would I personally invest in a defensive ATBM system if I was an Iranian neighbor? Nope. I’d build my own bomb, call it deterrence, and move on, as is my right.
Wait a minute…
A fantastic post.
1. The UK weather is the UK Weather, its what happens when your a small island group at the center of five major airmasses.
2. F:):)King excellant Gun laws π π π . Two major shooting massacres and all full bore automatics and hand guns banned. The Military and the Coppers are the only people allowed to be armed with full bore weapons (in other words, people who are trained to use the bloody things correctly π ). That’s why our murder rate is a small fraction of the USA’s π π in numbers to the size of population. you however, can still get bolt action rilfes and shotguns, Guns that actually have a pratical purpose besides killing people. π
I will just agree to disagree.
Its plausable but doubtful. Theres just something not quite right about it, but i dont know what.
When you state you have βthe mis-fortune of living in the UKβ, and your past posts have a distinctive pro Chinese tilt, one can interpret that as you having loyalties to places outside of the UK – such as China.
Maybe you would like to explain my pro-chinese tilt?
China is a country to which I have no origin or loyalty, and I hope that you will apologise for what was a direct insult.
There are two things wrong with the UK,
1) the weather i like it hot or cold, in the uk its just in the middle all the time.
2) ridiculous gun laws.
Could the moderators please do something about FLY DESI, im pretty certain that calling somebody a communist terrorist sympathiser with no evidence or provocation is against the code of conduct.
SOC, what info do you have on the Shahab-4? I have followed iranian ballistic missile development fairly closely and i havnt heard anything other than rumours about this missile. The most capable weapon I knowof is the Shahab-3B?
I currently have the mis-fortune of living in the UK and i have never seen or heard anything about that peace of crap you just posted FLY DESI. Everyone i have met in the UK would own a high powered car if they could afford it.
Interesting article in UK publication.
The UK magazine Warships IFR has an interesting piece about the Varyag in its news section. It claims that the ship is currently having a new radar system (possibly the one from the 052C destroyers) installed above the bridge. Also that according to russian sources the vessel arrived in china with a machinery plant, and that there are a large set of marine turbines under construction at Shanhai for which there are no other vessels either military or civilian identified.
A personal piece of analysis on my part is that the new 051C ddgs only have a helo pad and not a hangar similar to the concept of the British HMS Bristol which was intended to escort the CVA01.
It wasnt intended to sound like that, my point simply being that Isarel is not real threatened by a serious enemy.
I never mentioned america its just a utopian ideal
Post 911 most western countries have armed units that train on real ships for storming and searching.
I am a bit lost as to whay the IDF is so desperate to have the JSF, its only neigbour that can ne seriously considered as an agressor is Syria and it at best can put a few early model Mig-29’s in the air. Wasnt it only a year or so a go that the Israelis mounted an airstrike inside Syria and there was nothing they could do about it?
If you ask me the JSF is over kill for bombing refugee camps.
I think this is a good thread for one of my favourite qoutes of all time.
“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.
This world in arms is not spending money alone.
It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.
The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities.
It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population.
It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals.
It is some 50 miles of concrete highway.
We pay for a single fighter with a half million bushels of wheat.
We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people.
This, I repeat, is the best way of life to be found on the road the world has been taking.
This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron.”
Unfortunately we live in world divided by race, language, ideology and even personality whilst at the same time the concept of violence is part of human nature, thus it is up to each individual state to decide what it percieves its military needs to be. But ultimately, and I think all but the most insane people can agree on this, human beings should seek remove war and violence in general from their society.
It would also sweeten up the Europeans into letting Turkey join the EU.
