Wasnt the windows XP copies litterally just a copy, ie copied from a disc leaked/aquired from microsoft, its a bit different to working out how to write the software for a modern combat aircraft.
Just had a quick look, from 1998 to 2003 Russia has sustained just over 6.5% economic growth per annum, for 2004 the figure is likely around 6.9%, and 5.8% is predicted for this year. Vladimir Putin aims to have doubled the size of the Russian economy by 2010, although this now looks unlikely the target will probably only be missed by a small margin.
So obviously Russia has serious economic problems and cant afford an new hardware. :p
The Russians are already pursuing the Pakfa and are doing so at quite a pace, the largest part of the post cold war economic problems have now been solved and the country has the tenth largest economy in the world, (ahead of India) and economic growth has been both reasonably fast and stable recently. Funding is now being made available for upgrades and new equipment purchases. I see no reason why this aircraft will not be flying within the next ten years at the most.
Certainly the Indian MRCA deal is the mig29s last chance but the flanker will likely go on for a few more years.
Apparently it is a recconaisance pod.
I wasnt talking about the Blades I was talking about the large metal plades in front of the nozzle, that look rather out of place.
Flanker man, thanks for the info, do you have any more on this aircraft or other Su27/Su27UB upgrades?
Where does the article say this aircraft is something other than the Pakfa?
If this aircraft is indeed ready for production I would have thought that it is an S-37 Berkut derivative. Sukhoi is probably looking for something to supplement and replace the flanker in the export market now the new generation western planes are starting to become available, Rafale, Typhoon, JSF, Gripen.
The plane in those photos dosnt appear to have canards, so its probably not an Su35?
The date on the photos is 2003 so the engine is more likely an AL31 derivative, and I dont like the look of those metal plates just forward of the exhaust.
The JH-7 is a completely new desighn.
To be fair this guy does appear to be posting usefull info, from reasonable sources ie the Indian defence minister. I realy cannot see how posting an article saying that in the In the Indian airforce older aircraft are more likely to crash deserves a banning.
Is that a Top-plate on the mast of the 051C?
If you look carefully at the pictures you posted the sjywatch antennaes have been removed on the model, becouse the system is not being procured by the IN.
Gorshkov will have all trace of the Sky watch system removed, before being handed to India. By battle management system, it is probably meant that the radar was to be used as part of a massive command and control system, similar to an AWAACs but on a ship and probably on a larger and more capable scale.
It depends on what you want your MPA to do, if it is just fisheries patrol and the odd bit of surveillance then go for the CN235 but if you want a full blown submarine hunting battlegroup watching multi-mission platform wait for the 737.
I dont have an answer to your question, but I did see in an article posted at CDF that Vympel is looking at making a radar seeker for the AA-11 Archer, apparently a company called AGAT has already made the seaker head to fit the missile but It has not been tested yet.
I doubt the US would want to be held to ransom by another country.
