but it was part of an arms package was it not?
I realy dont see why India is going to get a better deal than Taiwan? after all the US has vowed to defend the Island and is now virtually its sole external arms supplier, the US protects the Island.
Why would the IN get them cheaper than taiwan?
I agree with Phantom and am also not involved in the thread, but equally I think it is neccesary to avoid labelling something as a poor desighn and as obsolete without providing evidence/examples, unless of course it is common knowledge (ie. mig 19 is obsolete).
Thanks everybody, as I expected it looks realy cool, not that that is very important in a helicopter but it does pack a real punch.
Jester I was trying to be Ironic when I mentioned Britain winning the war, Im sorry if you misunderstood.
What little moral claim the argentinians had they lost, when their military junta launched an unprovoked attack on sovereighn british territory against the will of the inhabitants with the support of the argentinian people. Your attitude is disgusting and appalling and goes against all the principles upon which a sane and peacefull world should be run.
I am sorry but ‘The islands have not been in argentinian hands in 200 years, the people on the Island wish to remain British, despite the fact they have lived there for generations they are not native etc etc”‘ is not an argument but a pathetic nationalistic rant of the sort that lead to wars, if you wish to rule the falklands against the wishes of the Islanders you are as bad as every other tyrant in history, you fall into the same category as hitler. I admit that Britains imperial past is nothing to be proud of, but it is a principle that was abandoned many years ago, although obviously not for you.
Sorry King jester, but Argentina can claim, complain, protest, winge and whine all they like, if the islanders wish to be British rather than argentinian, then it is the responsibility of both sides to respect that (or have you forgotten that little idea of self-determination). The same applies if the Islanders choose to be argentinian.
Your rant about how it is upto argentina and what argentinian citizens want is pathetic childish and nationalistic, but hey we beat you in the war so tough luck.
she is also not going to lokk anything like the above picture.
now come on children put your toys back in the pram, it is upto the current inhabitants of the falklands, the locals, the natives, we live in a world that promotes democracy and self-determination (well in most cases), so let it be. All this you stole my island 200 years ago is rather pathetic, on both sides. I for one would be more than happy for argentina to rule the falklands if that is what the people of the falklands chose in a free and rair referendum.
You sound like a certain Austrian in the 1930s.
well her economy is growing, I suppose it is up to Brazil.
Does she need an air defence destroyer? Her immediate neighbours arnt exactly strong.
too many jet trainers on the market.
the ships have received repeated upgrades and I doubt there are many 1960s/70s systems left, but there is so only so much life in a ship. I think the biggest problem would be finding a customer, most countrys looking for this sort of vessel are primarily after an LPH type ship suited to amphib and relief operations for which there are many shipbuilders offering new desighns), where as the invincibles are primarily CVs. Those few countrys that were in the market for new CVs have already filled the requirement
I dont think the current mig 29s can be brought up to the M/M2 standard, they would have to be brought up to SMT/UBT standard. so if you want to bring the whole fleet up to the same standard you need the Mirage.
India is recieving the ex Gorshkov and they have just started building an indigenous carrier.
I just read the news section in this months AFM and it says that the IAF favours a twin engined aircraft, in which case the Mig 29m/m2 could well be in with a good chance!!!
