The russian econmy is currently the tenth biggest in the world, quite respectable realy, all things considered/
I think there is little potential for selling the Invincibles as they are.
Brazil already has a carrier, australia is looking for new builds, chile cant realy justifie one, indias carrier plans are set, spain will likely build a new one if it wants one and malaysia and singpore cant realy justifie it.
Dassault makes the most beutiful fighters in the world. I no longer need a girl friend, just a Mirage……and a Rafale that we can invite round for special occasions.
Hasnt the IAF recently aquired some more mirages from a middle eastern country and ten new ones from france???
Just a guess but if the IAF chose to upgrade its existing fleet of mirage 2000 and ordered 126 new ones, they would have a similar number of mirages as they are recieving flankers-within the next few years the IAF could be extremely powerfull, the PAF will be little more than a nuisance to such a force!!!
The M2K looks beutiful and mean at the same time, just like the Rafale.
its up to the people of the Falklands, If they wishe to be ruled by Argentina then so be it, but last time I checked they held a similar opinion to the people of Gibralta.
The Rafale is a real looker, and a great performer.
By the way Rafales have already been fitted with CFT’s they have only appeared as a mockup for the typhoon.
Ultimately, the two planes will have virtually identical air to air and air to ground capability. Maybe the Rafale will be slightly better at the latter and maybe the typhoon will be slightly better at the former, but it seems thattrying to argue the superiority of one over another is a pointless exercise as they are so closely matched.
Just as crap and arrogant as any other magazine commercial for combat aircraft.
Both the typhoon and the Rafale are being pushed hard, so far the Typhoon has one export order but the Rafale seems to be coming higher in international competitions.
I think for those countrys that can afford it, of which there are few, there is a place for both a Rafale type aircraft and the JSF.
Ps, my national pride should have me defending the Typhoon to the end, but I like the Rafale.
Im also with phil, the Rafale and the Typhoon are both great multirole 4++ generation planes with very little if any difference in capabilitys. Personally I prefer the Rafale, but the reason for that is simply that it is so damn sexy!!!
Every picture of the prototype that I have seen shows it on a Tatra chassis, whether or not it is used by the IDF I dont know but the Tratra is used extensively all over the world, an is fairly similar to all other military truck chassis. I would have thought that the system can be applied to any vehicle in the right category, I doubt there is any relevance in the type of chassis used at this stage but I may be wrong.
I will have try and look tonight, but it may have to wait til tommorow.
My immediate source was air forces monthly, if I get time I will try and dig out the issue. Also, for flanker related stuff, try the ACIG forums, there is an enormous amount of information in there about flankers.
was CNN around in the 1960s? how many of your examples were from that time frame?
look at the dates!!!
To follow from what SOC said, everything I have read seen and heard about the BM programme lists the AL-41, it is usually described as a deep upgrade to follow on from the current SM programme.
we were talking about immediately post world war two upto the mid to late sixtys and comparing britain and france, coming more or less to the conclusion that both were more or less equal, well done sferrin youve just managed to produce a vast list of things that are from the 70s 80s 90s and today and from the US, therefore irrelevant to this thread.
