Avery impressive desighn, but it didnt even get as far as selecting an engine for the final desighn. Certainly would have made an interesting impact on the international market.

The chinese navys resources are so limited that they currently have what has been described as the largest naval building programme of any country since the end of the cold war.
But as sammer said, the chances of a major chinese presance in the Indian ocean, at least in the short to mid term is extremely unlikely-but never say never 😉 From what I have read the F22s will be potent vessels but not upto the standard of even the Talwars, probably the least capable of India’s new generation of warships. :dev2:

so the 14 jiangwei class frigates, 4 052c/b destroyers, 2 054 frigates, not to mention 112/113/167 destroyers and the 5 older ships rebuilt with 16 antiship missiles and HHQ7, and the two new 051c destroyers being built in Dalian simply represent a small ‘crap’ coastal force?
Last time I counted, I got 35 modern surface combattants in the chinese navy including the two new sovremennys now fitting out and the new indigenous DDGs. The requirements for my count were simple, a reasonably modern air defence system and modern anti-ship missiles.
Oh I think I forgot to mention the new SSNs an SSBNs reported to be either under construction or now fitting out.
Just a comment on quality, 10 of the 14 jiangweis mount 8 antiship missiles and the HHQ7 system, Im also very sure that the 052B/C vessels are crap aswell.
Seriously, knowone is disputing Indias naval prowess, and superiority over the PN, but chinas fleet is strong and getting stronger everyday, it is backed up by a larger economy than india, and sanctions are forcing more rapid indigenisation.

I apologise also, I have been reading back over my posts and in future I will endeavour to make them clearer.

That was not the intention of my statement as I have said before, I realy do wish that you would read my posts before calling me ignorant, if you are trying to start some sort of battle, I am not biting, I have said in previous posts that I was not trying to argue that the British aerospace industry was superior to the french, yet you still insult me by calling me an ignorant bigot.
I hope that this is a case of you failing to read and understand my posts and not an attempt at a personal attack.

Thanks Sens, so 76 mig 29s already, I think upgradung them to SMT2 or even 3 standard would be a good idea.

Im pretty sure that the FOCA programme was replaced some time ago by FOAS (Future Offensive Air System), I also seem to remember that the GR4 is likely to be replaced by a combination of JSF’s, Typhoon’s, UAV’s and cruise missiles, it is almost certain that there will be no new aircraft type to replace the GR4.
The TSR-2 although a capable aircraft, could only carry 10,000lbs of conventional bombs as it was conceived primarily as a nuclear striker, secondly as far as I know there was no sort of stealthy charchteristics whatsoever involved in the TSR2, finally the airframe desighn is now about 40 years old!!!

I already have, once again try reading post’s before replying.
when did the french build the worlds 3rd largest turboprop powered aircraft?
when did the french make a VTOL fighter?
When did the French produce anything in the class of the V bombers?
I am not arguing that British aerospace industry was far superior to that of the french, just that the french was not superior to the british.
Where I will certainly agree with anyone who will say it, is that the modern french aerospace industry is very impressive, in fact everytime I see a Rafale I have to go and lock myself away for a while until the excitement passes!!! I would go as far to say that I would rather see the Rafale on the CVF’s than the F-35s they are getting!!!

How many mig 29s does algeria have at the moment, maybe the listed SMT squadrons include the upgrading of models already in service?

I did admit that it was the British who broke the neck of that engineering glory if you could be bothered to read my first post, nor was I criticising french engineering, in fact I was responding to the claim that the French aerospace industry was MORE advanced than the british up to the sixtys.

I meant to say ONE OF, if not the most, sorry 😮 . And I was reffering more to the comment made that the French aerospace industry was more advanced than the British.

Sorry the Belfast was built by Shorts, oh yeah and I forgot to mention bloodhound, seacat, sea dart, sea wolf, and sea slug missiles, the Hawk training aircraft (probably one of the worlds most successful training aircraft)

I will admit that the UK aerospace industry went downhill spectacuarly after the 1960s but uptil then it was certainly the most advanced in the world, if not the most advanced.
