I thought the original plan was sixty, I remember reading a book a long time ago, that had been published before the construction of the first burke had finished, it stated 28 flight 1s followed by 32 flight 2s?
Sorry I was reffering to the thai carrier. I think the Ocean cancellation, of the second ship was simply and purely a cost cutting exercise, It seems that ocean is almost always being used.
the malaysian ship seems to be almost exclusively fitted for combat operations not disaster relief. For that a vessel like HMS ocean would be more suitable. I remember in the weeks after the tsunami there were reports that there were not enough hlicopters and I couldnt understand why such vessels werent deployed, especially by the likes of Britain and the US.
I think the usage of the word need is wrong, want is probably more appropriate, a carrier as with most other military force today is about what the countrys rolein the world is, If north korea wanted a similar role to the USA,it would arguably need an aircraft carrier.
Isnt there a speed difference between the B1 and the B1B?
the only thing that I can realy tell from that pic is that there are two subs there, it is not clear enough t try and identifie them.
how old is that picture? could it be 114 and 115 or has it been taken after the launch of 115 and there is thus 3 or more units of this new class? It certainly appears to be 115 type ships.
I was under the impression that the local market had already committed itself to forty, thus it has already been sold? Ant what is going to replace the mig 21 Bison?
Yes, the 2052, it has very impresive specs and is currently undergoing testing.
I hpe that inda can market and succesfully sell the Tejas, it might e an idea to instal an israeli radar and weapons for this purpose, not that there is anything wrong with th indian equivilant.
Talking of radar upgrades, what are the chances of a future IAF fleet wide use of the currently at prototype stage IAI elta 2052 radar, it has amazing specs and is targeted at Su30, mig29 and mirage 2000 aircraft?
Thoughts?
The Elta 2052 radar looks seriously impressive, I hope the IAF adopts it in quantity, imagine a force of Su-30s and Mirage 2000s equipped with this, that would be one amazing capability!!!
Does anybody know when this picture was taken
are these pictures of 115 or of the seond ship of the class?
If the aircraft listed are from the manufacturer then it tells us two things, firstly that Israel is planning on keeping the F15 in service for some years yet and that it is almost specifically targeted at the IAF, I hope that it does work as planned and that it is adopted by many airforces.
