Well, oddly, in the past 5 weeks I’ve used Terms 1,2,3 and 4. All are getting a bit tired now, the carpets are threadbare in places. Paintwork needs attention etc. But, I got my baggage on time!
Terminal 5 (Which I have not been inside) looks like a concrete council toilet designed by a blind man in the dark. Grey, dismal, boring, sad and outdated.

Also if you look carefully on some of the tumbling bombs you can see parachutes deploying from their tails to pull them up quickly over the target so they decellerate rapidly and are well clear of the aircraft when they hit the ground/detonate.

    Yep.
Free fall “Iron Bombs” are now (Generally) only used on low level stuff. IIRC some bombs have a timer to allow the bomb to arm after X seconds, by which time the platform is safely away. The olde worlde Iron Bombs had a small propeller which was driven by the breeze as it fell. This rotating prop unscrewed a small pin which then armed the bomb.
    They are all lovely though.

And don’t forget that the U.K. and the U.S. still use those paper thingies called, um, er, cheques, checks!

Well, it’s a dying trade. Most shops in UK don’t take them anymore.
Sidenote, I was in North America last week, I was surprised at the total lack of “Chip n pin”. Signing for stuff at the checkout, I’d forgotten how to do it 🙂

    Concur.
I did Rome to Venice on a clean/comfy/efficient/new/on time train. Cost was reasonable too.

I then came to London from Venice on the VSOE…now that was real train travelling!
Only those African ones (Rovos Rail) can beat it….they have a bath in your room on board! They also operate luxury fitted DC3’s and 4’s for flights over the Vicky falls etc.

Hey, give us a break mate this is the UK we don’t rush into all this new fangled technology without thinking it over for at least 15 years:D . Then when we decide to adopt it we find that the rest of the world is on the third generation stuff.

It’s not just that….it isn’t safe yet. It’s not only Guvmints that have lost Discs with stuff on. ID theft is one of the biggest growth industries in UK.

You and I should run the planet!

In UK, we don’t get money for drink cans.
The large fizzy drink bottles no longer have a deposit upon return (a) Because they are plastic and (b) they are plastic because a glass one can explode if dropped (I’ve done this just to check!!!)
I do not use the new lightbulbs because they are shyte. By the time they warm up to give enough light, one has finished in that room anyway. And, even when they are “On”, it actually hurts to read by them. I’m back on 60w real bulbs all over the house. 150w in one case.

We recycle glass / papers / plastic / cloth because the Council pick it up every fortnight.

If it combustable like heavy cardboard or wood etc I torch it in the garden incinerator…..the ashes go into the compost bin, which eventually end up on my vegetable garden.

If it costs me money to go green, then it isn’t green. The new lightbulbs “Could” save me money but at the cost of my eyesight and sanity.(I’ve never worked out the payback for a bulb that is 6 times the initial outlay cost but uses 20% of the energy)

My car does 34 mpg (Imp) and is 17 years old with only 116,000 on the clock. (59k of which are mine since 2005).

And yes, Global warming is real, but it isn’t due to man. A single volcano eruption puts more harm in the air than man can do in a year. The whole scam is just another way for Guvmints to find a way to make you pay more tax.

    Nice pics.

May I trouble you for a high quality version of the Gulfstream? I am only interested in the Tip cap of the vertical fin, not the whole picture (Fine one though it is). Your picture shows it quite well.

    It’s for my work.
