    Their shots versus yours….you win.

I only looked at about 100 pages of the 1400!!

IIRC the upstairs bit was the “Space”, with an original Gemini capsule there (One that was only used on ground tests)

Does the decline of this museum mean that the other museum (Steam etc.) is also looking ropey and in dire need of a budget?

Having driven both…and my wife ownes a BMW Mini…I have an opinion.
Sure I appreciate the original. Fun, cheap…

But the new one is a better car in almost every way.The old Mini was not sold in the U.S. after 1967 because it could not meet pollution and safety standards.

Sure it’s sad to replace a classic…the 787 will be a better and more practical airliner for the future than the DC-3.

    Time moves on.
It’s not “on our side”…despite what Mick Jagger says. ๐Ÿ˜€

Engineering and safety wise, probably yes.
But…..in looks, style, panache, intent, innovation the original wins hands down. To call the new one a Mini is an insult, like a remake of a classic film….it just doesn’t work. Mind you, it’s what I’ve come to expect from modern BMW, they are knocking out some ugly cars at the moment.

I am an ex ORIGINAL Cooper S owner.

I say again, the shots on here are far superior than the “Pro” shots I see on the walls of RAF bases and MoD buildings, or books for that matter.

The drama captured in every shot would make any young lad want to join up and fly.

    And the acknowledgement from crew….priceless.

Language has to change to evolve, but spelling should always be referred to the Oxford. If it’s in there, it exists.
The text blurb was only invented to save time texting, but it’s true roots are in the newspaper small ads where people had to pay by the letter. Some of it is becoming accepted in Emails or even letters.
Phonetic spelling, well, the Americans cashed in on that so that the influx of immigrants, mostly uneducated and pointlessly dim, could be able to write.

The responsibility is with both parent and skool, but sadly in UK we are now on 3rd generation of kids where education falls 2nd place to Coronation Street and Pop idol.
I interview a lot of people at work, I am contantly apalled at the level of ill contructed answers to question, incredibly bad spelling etc.
At least there are enough good kids to filter through to the few vacancies we have.

Under the “Layers” menu and the sub-menu “More”, you can tick DigitalGlobe coverage, which will get you dates on the image sets. Its a bit confusing to look at, but it will give you a date for the area.

Not strictly true. I can’t remember, and have no time to search until Monday but on GE HAck Forum there is a full explanation why the DigitalGlobe dates are NOT the date of the pictures used. If you overlay the DGlobe on GE, the outlines of the DG don’t even line up with the GE pictures.

Somebody asked about telling the difference….
Low res to High res. Basically, low res has very little detail. By outline alone you can make out Roads and Rivers but little else.
High res gives the detail, which in smoggy cities can be still blurred. The best High res on GE is over Holland, particularly around the Hague. One can see Doves flying, and Ducks on ponds. Superb.

…finally, I didn’t know R Branson had funded new mugshots of the area for the search.

Wouldnโ€™t it be simpler just to drain the pond.….or nearly drain it and go in with a net?

As for sticklebacks living in ponds, a friend of mine caught a stickleback in his local stream when he was about eight, brought it home, put it in his garden pond and forgot about it…

…twelve years later when I helped him drain the pond and fill it in we removed the goldfish and last of all…..one stickleback! ๐Ÿ˜‰

To quote the old saying “When you’re up to your ar5e in Aligators, the last objective is to drain the swamp” ๐Ÿ™‚

Good news on that ‘back. If all other conditions are OK, I guess the moving water doesn’t matter.

A friend of mine has a Plecostomus in his pond. (Yep, the tropical catfish). They accept water down to 55 deg F, but it still seems to live through the British winters.
It is now about 15 inches long, cruises round like a Nuclear sub. Keeps the Algae and other wayward plants down, which is its job in life.

Iโ€™d be interested to know if that is the official line…..or just an estimate?

Iโ€™m currently waiting for my โ€˜ex-apple treeโ€™ to disappear off GE. ๐Ÿ™‚

If you spend time on GE HAck forums and the like, that tends to be the most popular opinion.
My old house went from the low res to high res, the picture was 2.5 years old. I can pinpoint the exact day the picture was done, because we had a pal visiting, and he has a sickly Orange Rolls Royce. (yes, he only came to that house once!). We spent the whole day in the garden, but we are not in shot. ??
My brothers house has been high res. since GE was launched, and it’s still the same shot now. The picture was at least 3 years old at launch (He tore a Garage down which is in the picture).

How cool it would be if GE was live though eh! Would take a lot of sats!
