I believe various activities involving seagulls pass for entertainment on the long dark winter nights in Sunderland…
Sorry, thought you meant the culprit of the electrical problems. Didn’t catch him or his friend’s names. Both very nice chaps though, both ex-Phantom too…
Was it NAM on Sunday?;):)
Sadly not, despite Benyboy’s best efforts to bribe me 🙁
Blue, was it a 7ft tall sparky named Kev Minnet?
Wouldn’t like to say…!
It is indeed a contra-prop thing… 😮
Not much to report this week, Rich and I went in on Saturday and promptly spent half the morning trying to re-establish mains electricity to the jet . Some progress was made on the lock, hopefully next week it’ll be away.
Our afternoon’s work was to remove one of the lower rear spotlights and re-seal it. We’d noticed the week before it was half full of water. This week it was fully full! 😮 So we decided to remove it, empty it, clean it up and re-seal it. Doubting Thomas (Andre) proclaimed “you’ll never get that off”. Does that sound familiar from the access panel in the back hatch a few weeks ago?! Gauntlet thrown, half an hour’s elbow grease and careful application of a screwdriver and a knocking stick, and it was away. This one has apparently not been off since Lindy left service, and last time it recieved any attention it had been reassembled incorrectly to boot. It is now as it should be, hopefully watertight, and just in case the spotlight housing has a drain hole.
We also spent some time talking to a former Victor groundcrew. It was interesting taking him round the jet, and him pointing out some of ‘his’ mods to the aircraft. Including the aerial Araldited on under the tail! 😮
I believe Andre and co. were in yesterday doing some sort of black magic with boxes of electricity, I’ll find out what and report accordingly.
Normal (Sunday) service will be resumed next week!
All we need to see is a picture of the trailing edge of the Elvington Halifax to see if the Hastings wings were used unmodified or not.
Your wish is my command! Well it will be next Sunday when I can take some pictures. Anything I’m looking for in particular?
Some nice variety there! 😀
Very nice! Nice to see all those Hunters together, can’t wait to see Team Viper at Waddo.
Still not sure about that Tucano display colour scheme though…
Hunter-fest! 😀 Very nice. The Sea Fury looks cracking too! 🙂
Very nice, great work as usual. Nice catch on the Hunter ‘balbo’! 😀
I believe so, I don’t think the centre section was modified in any way. The odd inch is probably down to Rich and I’s hurried measuring! 🙂 😮
a hurried measure today revealed Friday 13th is 24ft 9in from tyre tread centre to tyre tread centre. I don’t know if that helps or further muddies the water…!
removing and refitting a spotlight from under the Victor. Which had decided to impersonate a goldfish bowl and fill with water…
Mr Applegarth, you’re right you don’t want to know! 😉 😀 Black Shoe does that mean your chair is a fetching shade of pink?
The need for a rationalisation does fade over time, trust me. Until one day you realise you don’t actually care anymore and that book is firmly closed.
