    Sadly this country’s gone from being a great manufacturing country to a mere shadow of what it once was. The aircraft companies, shipyards, motor manufacturers, all decimated. I can only speak of Hull, my nearest big city, as an example. After the death of the fishing industry there, the only thing really keeping that place on its feet is docks and the caravan industry. And that’s scratching to survive…
    It does make me sad to see how we seem to have to rely on other countries nowadays. Something that always strikes me is if you look at 50’s, 60’s even to an extent 70’s photos of any given large town, 99% of the vehicles in it are made in this country. If you took an equivalent photo today, you’d struggle to pick out more than a couple made by a British owned company I reckon.
    But I love the fact that the Victor has a plaque on the cockpit step which says simply

    ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’
