Well, if the Royal Navy had a 65,000 ton Super Carrier off the shore of Iran. I doubt they would have messed with the British Embassy. 😉
We had several supercarriers off Iran in 79 and it didnt seem to stop them from messing with us then………..pretty similar White House situation now as then too.
Growing up in Virginia Beach in the 80s, I got to see loads of F-14s and A-6s, with the occasional F-4, A-7, AV-8A and pretty much everything else the Navy flew in that era. Sure your sad to see the great planes retired, but……..I’m still in VA BCH, and the Naval Aviators I’v talked to lately are pretty happy with the SH and are, to a man, convinced that they are completely unbeatable in it. You have to take that for what it is, I know, but all in all, they do seem pretty pleased with the bird.
ANYTHING would be better than the Barry Obamy!:D
Shame they never went for the A-6F.
I think (could be wrong) the 3rd Ford (groan) is gonna be named Enterprise……
HMS Brown? I saw a good movie called “Mrs Brown” about Queen Victoria’s relationship with her…..gamekeeper? ,,,,,,not sure really what he did but he took her for hourse rides…..or something…..anyways, is the ship named after him?
I must admit I thought it was a considerable number, but the figure did not change when they were pressed.
Incidentally and I know it’s been discussed before, but one naval officer expressed his, ahem ‘distinct dislike’ of the two island design and that now CATOBAR is going to be included, the for’ad island location has meant that the second CAT is located to the left of the flight deck instead of being located at the bow ‘alongside’ the first CAT.
Its been brought up befor, and those that dont like it have been crucified for it because the two island approach is perfect and the US Navy has been doing it wrong for 55+ years.
Witht the way the budget is starting to look, there is absolutly zero chance of the USN ordering a CVF. The Marines will be lucky if the “B” survives at all.
I would sugest 10 new block 50/52s, and 36 block 15 MLUs.:p
The Big vs Small CV argument has been going on since the 1920s.
Are the Marines about to be thrown under the bus?!
It does seem to be bad omen………
No argument from me on that, but they did start out as V/STOL ships where an angle deck wasnt really needed.
The “B” is still VERY vulnerable right now………If the congress cant work together in the next two months and and come up with agreed on cuts, then automatic cuts go into effect……..cuts that will absolutly GUT the deff buget. I am not at all optimistic.
