What i have purchased/been hearing recently…
Velvet Revolver – Libertad: There followup to the 2004 hit Contraband disc. Libertad is a pretty good album. Not exceptional or not what i was expecting off the VR camp but still very good work. Songs like Let It Roll and Just 16 kind of for me, show what the new “rock bands” like Nickelback or Hinder are missing. The record company did a big blunder by releasing the song She Builds Quick Machines as the first single though.
Ozzy Osbourne – Black Rain: I was a bit hesitant of what to expect of the album after i heard the first single. But the album is much better than what i expected and i must say Zakk Wylde has truly done some great work on the record.
Warren Mendonsa: A local Indian guitarist came out with his album, which is a mix between Joe Satriani and Derek Trucks. Exceptional tones off his Fender Stratocaster and Marshall half-stack. Tracks such as Bombay Rain stand apart.
Doloris R’Riodren (sp?) – The new album by The Cranberries vocalist. I think she has done a decent job and her first single Ordinary Day has been stuck in my head.
I have just bought a new Gibson Les Paul ’07 Standard and a new Laney LC 30-II combo which is an upgrade from my previous gears. So i have been playing and listning alot of The Allman Brothers Band, Yarbirds, Free, Buddy Guy, Garry Moore and the Snakepit albums.
