the AN 124 has been to Mel. once i thinkin the early nineties……somewhere like 1993-1994.

Because Soviet engines rarely did adopt any new technology and there companies were always short of finances so they never did get much chance for experimenting. The government never did pay much attention to the Soviet civil aviation sector.

These days CFM is goinf pretty well with airlines i think.

Yes…i think there alliance with Northwest is priceless and is offering them a great foot in the American market.

i was seeing it from the current scenario point of view hand…the B727s are also being phased out……today companies want to take more in one go…..although agreed the B737/A320 do have a fast turn-around time but there max. weight even in a freighter version wont be enough.
