    RE: Mirage 2000 Scare

Well..of course that would be scary. People just relaxing on the flight, having a nice cool drink in there window seat looking at the view outside when suddenly a Mirage F1 springs up just 100ft away from the wingtip. Some flight eh:-)

LAST EDITED ON 20-10-01 AT 08:09 AM (GMT)[p]Well most of the two engined business jets do trans-atlantic flights. I think the BBJ also is capable of doing it, so is the A319CJ. Aeroflot operates most trans-atlantic flights with its A310s. Also B767 AARGOS version dose trans-atlantic flights regularly.

Well i have heard rumors that a Concorde fan club sort of thing consisting of some rich people has put in quite a some of mony to bring the bird back in the skies. But most of the effort is from BA, even for Air France.

    RE: A330-500

yes….the A330-500 first when was considered was named A330-‘shrink’. Many airlines are quite dependent for there medium haul routes on the A310 for eg. Air India. An A330-500 would indeed be perfect in the market. Although being low on cost than the A300/310 is doubtful. The A330-500 if at all comes will have latest avionics, radar(talkes for CAT(HU-11 were on)etc. which will increase its cost. But i dont think the airlines would mind that. After all it will be much better in all aspects than the A300/310.

    RE: Indian Hijack Confusion!

It was confirmed a telephone call by someone to the ATC telling the flight will be hijacked. The ATC told the pilot which made him panic. He told the crew to monitor all the passengers. they shut off the front lavoratery. One person there was eager to goto the front lavoratery or speak to the pilot. And the crew said he was restless the whole flight. It was no drill…all PM and other ministers were woken up at 1 am and all rushed to the airport. But it was nice to see the Indian Commondos preventing the plane from taking off. They burst the tires…a barrier was made on the runway etc. The pilots locked the door also. It was all panic and confusion.

    RE: Swissair broke!

Well it was quite hard to believe that out of all…Swissair going bankrupt. And i quite disagree that Swissair is in financial crises due to its OWN management mistake. Buying shares in Sabena was the biggest mistake they did. As i have followed Sabena, it was never a stable airline, some of you might disagree with this point, but this is what i have saw. Swissair as i have seen has one of the best managements, maybe a little faul from the management also, but above 70% of this problem is buying shares in Sabena.

    RE: Overreaction regarding safety measures?

LAST EDITED ON 29-09-01 AT 05:20 PM (GMT)[p]Well i think Sky Marshals are there just to make people feel safe. I agree that if theres one sky marshal per flight…and 6 hijackers who are of course on a course of death…theres little the sky marshal would be able to do.

    RE: Overreaction regarding safety measures?

Agreed that locking the cockpit doors wont help much…..i think a good check by experts before boarding and being of sky marshals on each flight is more than enough. This thing is getting too hyped by the media.
