    RE: Iberia pilots strike again

Hello people, im back:). Pilots of Iberia, Lufthansa and some times Air France have a liking of goin on strike. Recently PIA pilots went on a go slow and there case can be understanding, as Pakistans economy is in a bad state. But whats wrong with Lufthansa, Iberia and Air France??

    RE: BA/KLM: Merger?

I think this merger is not necessery from KLM’s side as they are not facing any losses, Holland’s economy is very good so why a merger, this is what bothers me. And BA is always upto somethig or the other so this is not new from there side. Tis big merger i think will affect alot to alliances like Star Alliance, as BA is not joining any major alliance, its just merging with other major carriers. SIA is doin same with Ansett.

LAST EDITED ON 05-06-01 AT 05:19 PM (GMT)[p]sorry, i have made a mistake, its the An 225 not 125. Sorry. And the A380 is just bigger by a slight margin. The A380 had to be bigger as it is a double decker.

RE: Biggest aircraft in the world???

The AN 225 is the largest aircraft in the world, it flew recently if i am not wrong. The An 124 is the worlds largest aircraft in production as there is only one An 225 Mriya. The A380 cannot be the largets jet as it has not flown yet. Even when it flies it wont be close to the An 124 or the An 225. Here are the stats of the An 225 and the An 124.

    AN 125:
    Dimensions:
    Length: 275 ft 7 in(84 m)
    Wingspan: 290ft (88.4m)
    Height: 59 ft 8 in (18.2m)

    Weights
    Max T/O: 1 322 750 lbs (600 000kg)
    Payload: 551 150 lb(250 000kg)

    Performance:
    max Speed: 528 mph
    Range: 15 400km, 4500km with max payload.
Powerplant: six ZMKB D 18 turbfans.
    Thrust: 309 540lb(1377kN)

    AN 124:
    Dimensions:
    Length: 226 ft 8 in(69.1 m)
    Wingspan: 240 ft 5 in(73.3 m)
    Height: 68ft 2 in (20.8m)

    Weights:
    Max T/o: 892 872 lb (405 000 kg)
    Payload: 330 693 lb(150 000 kg)

    Performance:
    Max Speed: 537 mph
Range: 16 500km, 4500 km with max payload.

RE: National Airlines…….BA,AF etc…. What do u think

Well it all depends on the country’s economy and situation. For me, SIA, SAS, Emirates, BA, KLM and Lufthansa. All countries are not capable of producing quality airlines, but countries as India, China etc are very much capable of producing good airlines, only if they take the civil aviation more seriously. After all an airline reflects the countries image.

    RE: Five-engined Jumbo??

LAST EDITED ON 26-05-01 AT 07:00 PM (GMT)[p]Yes earlier planes used to carry an extra engine. I have a Qantas photo of a B707 with an extra engine. But a five engined jumbo is impossible man;-), u need same amount of thrust frm both L and R wings. A330 with n extra engine??, never seen or heard of it.
