As you hve suggested that tomorrow’s forecast is looking very good, I suppose there is always the danger of fire when the grass on the airfield boundary is dry. This being the case, might it not be prudent for the Fire Section to liberally spray the boundary hedge to prevent combustion?

Should people still wish to watch from the other side of the hedge, I’m sure they would appreciate a sudden soaking, purely in the interests of their safety, of course.

Fascinating account of his service with the ATA. The best ATA book I’ve read so far.

About to start the 43 Squadron history by J Beedle followed by War News Had Wings by Narracott.

Slowly reading Digital Fortress. Doesn’t seem as pacey as Da Vinci Code or particularly Angels and Demons.

I’m not THAT down. OW Sunday, Duxford both days the following weekend, to Jersey for the airshow on the 15th, then down to Somerset on the 17th coming back for the sunset show at OW on the 24th. In between I am arranging the erection of a bench to an ATA crew at Manchester, ongoing research into a Fitter IIa with 37 Squadron and currently searching for someone local who can read Polish to translate a mass of correspondence involving a Captain in the Polish Second Corps, trying to ascertain the identity of several Polish Officers and airmen, trying to locate relatives of one of the ATA crewmen and trying to establish whether a number of photographs in my posession are of the funeral of General Sikorski at Newark.

The Historic forum in particular has been the catalyst which created for me a number of enduring friendships, both on and off the forum. Downhearted? Yes, sometimes, but it’s never usually too long before my friends (and family) get me back on track.

At about 4 O’clock this morning when the pain in my legs got to me just a little too much, despite having two double doses of the painkillers prescribed for me. Having said that, I was crying with laughter at 5:30 am when my legs gave way and I fell into the bathtub!

Prior to that it was at Steve Young’s funeral.
