But I do want to live in a calm and safe area not one run by a load of mad thugs.

That is exactly what Hand is trying so hard to tell you. That’s what the Germans wanted, but they got so much more. Are you seriously trying to tell me you would vote for a political party which denies that the Holocaust ever took place? Did you read Steve Touchdown’s post about Nick Griffin?

“Their is a whole load of differnce between BNP and Hitlers lot.”

Are you sure about that? the BNP are at present amateurish by comparison but if people like you give them the opportunity to grow….

“Its not like I want concentration camps and people to be shot just for dropping litter etc”

Neither did the Germans, but look what happened there. Jews, Gypsies, people with any kind of disability or infirmity (that’s me and you gone then) untermenschen of any description, the list goes on. And the BNP dare to suggest that none of this ever happened. Do you feel the same? Because if you don’t the BNP wouldn’t want you.

Vote for who you wish, just think about what you might be letting us all in for if the BNP ever do rise to power.

“The threat I want removing is the constant threat of Crime and Anti social behavior and if the BNP can do it then I am happy to give it a try.”

Crime would stop, or rather it would be perpetuated only by those in power.

“Anyway I have plenty of respect for those who fought in WW2 those who don’t can **** off cause their just sick.”

Yes, but on which side? Your attitude is very strange. You say you have respect for those who died yet you advocate the return of Nazism? Where is the logic?

You suggest everyone is entitled to their say, but what is the point when you won’t even listen? I would dearly love to be as sanctimonious and self righteous as your good self, but sadly, I just don’t have it in me.

The police are past trying the courts are petrified of sending people to jail and the honest people end up victim’s of crime.

Bring on the BNP the sooner the better.

Oh Andrewman, showing your true colours at last.

‘criminal scum living better than the Queen.’? How the hell do you work that one out? Your average burglar has a personal fortune running into tens of millions of pounds then? Property worth tens of millions? A fleet of aircraft at their disposal and spend their time living in a house with so many rooms even they don’t know how many there are? Don’t talk so bloody stupid. If prison is such a luxury go and book yourself a stay in one!

The Police are not past trying now? Many of them haven’t tried for years. Being a Police Officer is now nothing more than a job. 24 hours to attend a burglary, mugging without injury no longer considered a crime, a man dies as a result of an attack but the Police say it can neither be murder or manslaughter. Three attempted burglaries which the Police refuse to attend. The fourth time they manged to get in and he was bitten by the householder’s dog. The Police would not prosecute the burglar for burglary but prosecuted the householder for allowing the dog to bite the burglar. The Police would rather charge the victim than the criminal, they’re less likely to strike back and the paperwork’s probably easier.

BNP. Now Andrew that makes sense. Does the N stand for National or Nazi? Would you even know the difference? People died to rid us of that threat, possibly even members of your family, YET YOU ADVOCATE THEIR RETURN? Let’s have the BNP in power, they can remove all immigrants, deportation or extermination? The choice is yours. Then other elements of society they decide don’t fit in, cleanse the gene pool, rid us of those with physical disabilities or learning difficulties? How about the Welsh? Or the Scots? Do we really need them? Or people with Geordie accents? Or West Country? We daren’t forget redheads, they’re bound to be subversive aren’t they?

And we shouldn’t forget that the attitude you already hold would take you a long way in the BNP. People disagree with you about fireworks you abuse them or disavow them of the opportunity for further discussion. Rational? You tell me. You besmirch the name of all those who fought, so many of whom died, to give you the freedom you have today yet you betray them like this?

    Your views are beyond comprehension.

Under an English Heaven and First Light are my other two stars of 2003. 2004 will have to go some to match these.

I think the same three as Steve. For me the added bonus was meeting some of 609’s veterans when I bought the book and then capping it all by getting Betty (Johnny Wiseman’s sister) and Ron Haddon (Alan Haddon’s brother) to sign the book at the unveiling of the Memorial on the Monday. As Steve says that is one treasured posession.

So maybe we can call that INSUFFICIENT planning instead of POOR planning 🙂

Hand you are right. The Government does have a right of priority in land acquisition. In the UK it is called a compulsory purchase order in which the owner whose property is being compulsorily purchased is unlikely to get the market value of the house. To employ CPO’s to expand LHR would encompass a huge number of properties whose owners would, effectively, lose quite heavily in the housing market. This would nor endear the Government to the VOTERS who live in those properties so a Government has to weigh up very carefully whether there would be any benefit in taking such measures…..

Sandy is right in what he has said about Heathrow. I don’t think it was ever envisaged that air travel would escalate in the way it has and that LHR, being close to Central London when the airport was planned would ever have to cope with the capacity it has to now.

A380. “NIMBY’s and all these stupid groups like “friends of the earth” have way too much power over authority!”

What a naive statement. Someone wants to demolish the area where you live including your property to build a supermarket, a hospital or even convert the area to parkland and you would happily comply with that? I think not. I think you would find just how powerless NIMBY’s are then. Progress is all about achieving an acceptable balance, acceptable to the majority that is. You and your family don’t want your house demolished to build a supermarket but a catchment of 10,000 people in the area are in favour I’m afraid your house is history unless there are some very special extenuating circumstances. Try to remember there are at least two sides to every story.

    Mark.

What can one say? You have a talent for bringing the dead to life, history flows past our eyes thanks to your vision, patience, determination and overwhelming compassion. Memorialisation may not be your occupation, but it is most definitely your vocation.

We should all offer a vote of thanks to those who made this tribute possible and spare a thought for Mike Shelton.

I have to say your last photo of Albert and Georges brought tears to my eyes. The ‘common, unconsidered man’ personified.

I’d like to come, but there is a bit of a problem. After going round Hendon last time on crutches it nearly killed me, so this time I’d have to use my wheelchair. I’m afraid that means I’m going to have to ask if any of you wouldn’t mind meeting me outside and giving me a hand with ramps etc. As an incentive, whoever goes in with me I think gets in at half price as a carer. I’d be really grateful for anyone’s help. Thank you.

    Hi Sandy.

The windows are indeed transparent. Think it looks better than painted on for a model of this size. It’s the Revell 1/144 scale 738. Not bad for a first attempt. About to start work on a Swiss A320 next. Does anyone know whether any company does after market decals for A320’s for My Travel or My Travel lite?

“I hate to say this in this way, but if you have to get that desperate to get the book published then it could well be that there is no reason to do it in the first place and no market. That will inevitably come across as a harsh statement when you see it in black and white but it is the truth.”

Yes, you’re right, I didn’t like that at all. But I am sensible enough to see and take heed of the point you are making.

“Chasing a dream in getting your ideal book published can cost you dearly and I would not like to see that happen. I am, however always happy to be proven wrong.”

Glad to hear it. So now we know what my next ambition is.

“The bottom line is that it is a product and needs to be sold in order to justify its existence. Merely “publishing” something is nothing more or less than self-graitification. If it doesn’t get in front of a reader then it is only a waste of trees.”

Again I see your point. I believe there is an audience for what I am proposing. I have no real knowledge of publishing so your time, patience and assistance is greatly appreciated. I am taking on board all the advice given in this thread. It is possible that I am not making my intentions clear but I am loathe to go public at the moment for various reasons. Only time will tell the outcome. Until then I take notice of the advice I receive and hopefully, somewhere along the line, it will all work out.
