    RE: Cloaning

    Sparky.

    “Is Dolly still alive?”

Do you mean Dolly? Or the sheep she was cloned from? I believe the sheep Dolly was cloned from is now selling her body for spare parts in a well known chain of butchers. There is no evidence to support rumours that she was escaping from the testing centre one limb at a time…

Seriously though, I think Dolly is still alive but she was suffering from the early onset of arthritis. I’m not surprised because they don’t really know what they’re messing with. But I would imagine arthritis is an occupational hazard for a sheep. They live outside in all weathers and they are only normally kept for a short time before being sold to the meat trade.

I’m definite too. I am aiming to be there between 9.30 and 10. Ashley, if it makes it easier for you you can take the wheelchair to the Concorde room if you like. I shall need a walk after the drive down and it’s not too far to the Concorde room is it?

    RE: DVD’s

    Hi, Snoopy.

sorry about the lateness of my reply but I was one of those who couldn’t log in and I’ve only just got round to it.

Yes there is some stuff on both the Middle East and SEAC. Probably adds up to about half an hour of the total. Some footage of Hurricanes in SEAC, airfield construction, jungle survival, bomber maintenance, WAAF’s, ‘the Pacific Front.’

I still think it’s good value for money.

RE: S/L Ken Brown 617 Sqn.

This is indeed sad news, the only comfort being the knowledge that the world is a better place for us due to the lives they led. I wonder just how many people passed these two old men in the street without a clue as to the service they had done for their countries.

We largely see people as just the outside shell, a nice old chap who I see when taking the dog for a walk, always pleasant, says hello, nothing remarkable about him at all. He passes away and the local paper runs a headline like ‘War hero dies after long illness.’ This quiet, unremarkable man was the holder of a Military Medal for his actions in Italy. His story is now lost, and with it the opportunity to show the gratitude we should all feel for the service and sacrifice of that generation.

Wholeheartedly agree. I think he got off lightly but will have a criminal record for life. All for the sake of getting drunk to the point where his intellect left along with the beer.

RE: Brighton Pier is falling down

Yes, lottery money would be nice but that would just bring up the old nugget about what constitutes a good cause. Personally, I would say no, this does not constitute a good enough cause. The pier has been allowed to deteriorate over many years. The kindest thing would be to demolish it and remove what now is nothing more than an eyesore. There are other piers which have managed to be maintained over the years so I don’t see why people should be expected to contribute towards something which nobody has cared for for many years.

RE: What Are You Doing On New Years Eve

“I’m having a big party with almost all my friends…..”

Me too, so it’ll be just me and the dog then, unless he’s invited anyone. Miserable, unsocial old bugger that I am, I have always hated New Years Eve, perhaps it’s because I like the past so much that I don’t like the future.

Hope everyone else has a good time though.

    RE: New on the forums.

    Sparky.

I was just going to say that myself. A333 expressed an interest in coming to Duxford so they could come along together. Both would be very welcome.
